    Re: more win10 stuff

What point were you trying to make ? it's lost in the crazy ranting.
My point was if you have an issue with something change it to suit.
And i think you're wrong, Microsoft won't delete files off computers, and if they are lost due to hardware failure it's no bother as there are backups right ?

Tell that to Steve Lav, whose imanifold "app" has been "vanishing" and losing connectivity with bluetooth temp/pressure sensors.
The experience can be yours for only $1800.

      But wait! There's more!
Order right now, and we'll throw in "Getting Hooked on Perpetual Upgrades and Lockouts" for free!
Just pay for it with your company's customer log/list...
If you order in the next five minutes, we'll throw in "Technology and Devices as a Means of Control."
Special bonus! Orders placed in the next 30 seconds will include a FREE copy of "1984."

M$ wanted remote kills since vista, and can already do so with XBONE. The drum-beating for that started way back with Billy's "BSA" and "snitching" on so-called "infringing" M$ Works users...

How am I supposed to "change something to suit" when all I have are "dummy buttons," M$'s arrogance like nothing I've seen from them, and an entire "OS" whose modus operandi is screw the "user" any way we can?"

How about we stop "making deals with the devil," as in "accepting" this shit with fanatic following and making excuses? M$ would never hurt us, in fact they love us- they care so much about us! (Not for the reasons you think.)

Maybe it's because we'd have to look back and realize how we've let 'em get over, and how we'd have to rething our entire belief system?

The stark reality is too jarring, isn't it? So just cling to your Stockholm syndrome, like 50 million Patty Hearsts defending their "captors"...

Ah, an "IT Tech." So you put ten on your customers' PCs and repeat the "un-checking," as if by rote, of those shiny new checkboxes, that do nothing? (This has been substantiated during "testing," both here and elsewhere.)

Have you no cares about the implications of any of this for your customers? If you'd "happily" and routinely install such trash, you're insulting your customers- the hell with what M$ dictates or demands. Your customers come first, as do their needs if there should be any type of custom setup.

It's an absolute boneheaded move to knowingly install something that compromises your customers' data. But it's downright asinine to think those checkboxes do anything.

As I said, I've seen M$ crapware bypass HOSTS files. I've seen it on XP too, while trying IE8 on a test mule. Don't like IE-searchbar spyware and think you can "uncheck" it? Think again! "Checkboxes" stop nothing! Ok, sure look for the domains in TEMPOR~1 files and add 'em to HOSTS, right?

      Wrong.

Reality is clashing with the M$ fanatics' religion.

I can find no reference to the iManifold app "vanishing" got a source ?

And whilst I've had the opportunity to install Windows 10 these last few weeks, i am advising my customers to hold off. It wasn't finished by it's release date and still isn't.

Where did I say it was a "problem"? I didn't. It was MS's first invasion by phoning home in the name of anti-piracy. What 10 is doing makes that seems petty. My point was that people screamed and cried about activation....but eventually got used to it/accepted it.... The idiot masses will do the same with this abomination.

              i'm not so sure,
if it doesnt have eye candy to blow 7 away they probably wont fall for it.
they didnt fall for it with vista or 8.x
of course if it projects holograms or gives a hand-job they will install it blindly because they love something newer and "better"

It's flat, dull and boring just like 8/8.1.
You say they didn't fall for Vista or 8.x stj. Maybe that was the fact that they were both crap and users were happy with XP and then 7. Not all Microsoft users are blind sheep that follow the latest shiny. Enterprise still makes up a vast share of Microsoft user base and thankfully common sense usually prevails. Enterprise won't start making moves on 10 for at least 6 months. There are still glaring bugs to fix.

i know people in so-called "enterprise".
i'm surprised some of these places are still around with the stories i could share.

i'll just say this, they have computer experts who know what they are doing.
and they have thick asshole management that tells them what to do even though it's wrong.

such as throwing a whole ibm unix server-farm out and replacing it with a few compaq twin-cpu servers running win-server simply because the manager was a "windows guy".
it took them over $200,000 in software and over a year to make it work and be relativly stable.
and it still wasnt as good as the old stuff that got trashed.

only god knows how much money they lost in this time period - it as a top financial company you probably know the name of!

Some people will still "upgrade" anyway just because there is something newer available.

After all of this shit, I think I would rather have any other version of Windows. I'd even stop using Windows if I didn't have some Windows-only software. I don't really want to mess with Wine in Linux.

Think about it! Who is going to write exploits for an outdated OS that no one uses anymore? The whole point of malicious code is to get spread on OSes that are currently in use and popular... i.e. a larger user base, which translates to more "resources" once those systems are compromised.

But with XP dead now (all thanks to Microsoft and their scare tactics), you can bet hardly anyone bothers to write malicious code for it anymore. It just doesn't make sense.

                                  XP shit? How?

Last I checked, it's an OS still capable of doing things that you can do with the more "modern" OSes. Office work? No problem. Office 2007/2010 is still current and useful. Graphic design, photography, and music? You can still do that too with the proper softwares. Same goes for engineering and architecture.

You see, these "new" version of Windows haven't really came up with anything that is absolutely necessary or must have. Just new flashy eye candy and visual effects, that is all. But if it was just that, I wouldn't be so grungy. The problem is that there is much more going on "under" the hood now, some of which is outright 1984-like. And what's worse is that the user seems to have less and less control with each newer version of Windows. That, I also don't like, and is the main reason why I won't go to anything past 7.

Even if they just adept something other companys have for years...
Because Microsoft actually made some good products back in the day and many people still expect this quality. Windows 95, 98, and 2000 were all excellent, despite being a bit crude-looking. They just got the job done. Then came XP, which is where MS started to experiment a bit (particularly with the whole activation thing). But again, the OS was still a success and therefore people still didn't mind. The fact that it remained popular for almost 10 years and that MS had to scare people away from it to get them to move is sheer proof. Then came the Vis-trash abomination and... well, here we are today. Of course, this wasn't all MS's fault. Part of it was that people just got stupid over those iPhones and iPods, which made Apple more popular then ever. Eventually, more and more people got dumbed down by the Apple products (and eventually tablets and other "smart" phones too). In fact, so many people became dumbed down that anything could fly now. Then M$ just decided to follow the money and make products like the rest of the competition. The result is all of these newer OSes (i.e. Vista, 8, and 10... 7, I don't like too much either, but I can work with it).
