    what mobo to buy?

With the recent death of my gigabyte mobo, I have been looking for a replacement. I am finding many boards however that are using DDR ram and not the sdram I use. I spent good paper purchasing two sticks of pc133 sdram sticks and I ain't gonna just ditch them for more expensive ddr sticks.

Since most of the people here have changed boards multiple times, i need your help finding a motherboard that is close to what I need:

-at least 2 sdram slots (non-DDR) and capable of supporting 1+ gigs-o-ram
    -socket 478 (pentium 4)
    -at least 4X AGP
-5 PCI slots, 4 if LAN is on the board
-floppy support (A: and B: if possible)
-the usual ide (primary and secondary)
    -ATX form factor

I know they are out there. They are just hard to find.

Asus P4S533-X will be your good choice if you can get from market.

That's a DDR board, hes looking for an SDRAM board. The P4S533 is a good one though, I've got one in a system here, always been solid.

        Support DDR333/DDR266/200 or PC133/PC100 SDRAM.
No, it can support BOTH DDR and sdram.
That's okay with me. This means that it's more flexible when it comes to upgrading.

bummer that ebay don't have one right now. only ram.

          by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

dell e6540 boots to black screen (no dell logo)
          by jake-b
          good morning all,

i purchased a used dell e6540 laptop used 10 months ago from a vendor on ebay. intel i-7 processor, 16 gb ddr3 memory, 256 gb ssd., mobo la-9413p (rev 1.0 dated 2014-08-04). i've inflicted no damage on it since purchase but its past is unknown. starting 2 weeks ago it began to fail to boot (initially 9 of 10 boot attempts failed, now 10 of 10 fail). there was no new hardware or software added (i was using as a kodi video server). the post process doesn't complete and booting no longer displays the dell logo screen - screen remains black with no backlight. some other...

Xbox One Controller - Phantom stick activity (sticks completely uninstalled)
          by Aimbit
          Hi All,

I bought some used Xbox one controllers "as is/untested" and they both have the same issue. The joysticks go wild for no reason while plugged in.

          https://youtube.com/shorts/YTYtjUPkBX0?feature=share

I removed both joysticks assuming it was an issue with the sticks, but the video posted here is the activity of the sticks with no sticks installed! My only guess is one of the tiny IC's that reads the inputs is broken. There are two small ones near either joystick, and then one larger one. I found a replacement on Aliexpress for the larger one...

Mobo MSI B550-A PRO password popup
          by Cerberuska
          Hello guys,
I have interesting problem. My MoBo MSI running on Ryzen 7 w/o graphics just good. I swapped to Ryzen 5 5600G and on the boot I stuck with screen on picture. Enter Password. I checked BIOS setting with Ryzen 7, no security is enabled, BIOS password or TPM.
BIOS I updated to last one.
          any suggestions?
And same thing for two different 5600G, and yes, MoBo supposed to support it.
          Thank you...

Dell G3 17 3779 - no display after mobo replacement
          by mrsith
          Hi guys,

I have a friend's Dell 3779 that came to me with severely shorted mobo. Did not manage to isolate the cause, most likely that was a bga shorted. Went for a replacement motherboard. Got one from China, apparently it's been tested prior to shipping. The mobo starts up normally but I am getting no display whatsoever.

Tried using external monitor, but being blind I am not sure if laptops goes as far as booting to Windows, a d without it I cannot get hdmi to work. Can't see boot menu options to make sure it boots to Windows. Went ahead and did a blind bios update,...
