    A random line

I turned on my Sony Vaio UX UMPC today and there's a faint horizontal line running down the LCD screen! It's 1 pixel wide and runs down the screen... it's solidly grey as well.
I didn't do anything to it... hasn't been dropped or anything like that. It was fine the day before as it sat on my table... this random line just appeared out of no where.
Is this a fault with the LCD or the screen cable? Everything else works fine... the faint line is hard to see... but it's there.

    Re: A random line

I had this happen once with a Dell Latitude C600. I think maybe it maybe just is the equivalent of a dead pixel except running down the screen.

usually bad cables result with more than just one faint line, but like a line of like several pixels

I don't know what causes that, but I have seen a similar problem. My parents' computer monitor has a white horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. It is sometimes solid white and sometimes transparent with visibly moving white pixels.

Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN Help needed - Static line on screen
          by Kiberge
          HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
          by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
          by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
          by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
          by smic717394
          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...
