    Mysterious armada problem

The other day i spotted for $10 a compaq armada 1700 laptop. When I got it home i pushed the power button....and got little response.
You hear a pop from the speakers and two or three led's light up (including the power led) . other than that it is completely silent. Power is not applied to drives, the fan don't spin and no post. I opened the case and discovered the cmos battery had recently been replaced. It looks like the old one leaked and reached the mobo!
I can see one small chip with corrosion on it and the odd other place on one corner and one side of the board. This system uses a built in ac adapter meaning that you just plug 120 volts into the back and the battery is pretty much perfect.

What do you think? corrosion has caused open connections?

        It has a whole face!

Coming from someone with a slightly rusted network card, this isn't particularly helpful, but although that leaked battery acid probably isn't conductive, it's worth cleaning that up if you haven't. I'm not an expert, so I can't tell you where to go, really.
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.

Well fluids in laptops are always nothing good, and your battery fluid is highly conductive. I have recently one repaired, wich was soaked in coffee. Unfortunately my repair seems to be not perfect, as the battery woudn`t charged anymore, but his could be another issue.

Any way, i cleaned the whole board cpu, ram everything wich was afeckted and wich i trusted to stand up against some harsch cleaning solvents (i used water and some grease cldeaning fluid) an brush.... I suggest to buy some decent elektronic cleansing foam, this is usually sold at your local elektronic shop. Or use some other fluid, wich should not be corosive (at least it should not disolve your laptop imediately ). Remove any battery and any other energy storage device (even the CMOS batery). Especially the 110V PSu contains capazitors with high voltage. After clean away the dirt whit a brush or only by the foam rinse it carefully with water and for the last rinse take some distilled water or some pure alkohol (i used some vodka....).
The alkohol is only for faster drying, as it mix with the water especially under those mall BGA chips i think it is dryinbg a lot faster than with pure water.
Then let it dry in a warm and not humid environment. I put it in the central heating room, always 35°c and absolutely dry air. Depending on the temp i suggest at least one or two days. If all is absolutely dry, you can try it. Rember, for this prozedure it is esentially to disassemble the device untill there are no spaces in wich the water could left withouth drying. It is some work, but this is IMBHo the only posibility. If only a small are is affekted, may be you can celan it without taking the whole thing under water.

My monitor works fine for text but pictures are way too dark. I am not about to change it yet and I am not sure I can tinker with it to make the picture brighter. It is a HP Ergo 1280. Well, now I am spending time trying to find the schematic diagram online.... not much luck though

the hp ergo had blue label samsung tubes which were very short lived.

I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                    1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                    2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                    3. Problem: TV shuts down

                    i have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

                    Lenovo T580 - LCD Panel problem - error 0288
                    by perzyk23
                    Good morning,
I have a problem with Lenovo T580, which after error code 0288 suggests a problem with the display. I checked the display and it works on another laptop. I replaced the display cable with a new one. I programmed another BIOS (downloaded from this forum) and I still have the problem of a dead display - there is an image via HDMI, and the system does not detect the built-in LCD at all. The problem appears to be hardware. What can I check to confirm or disprove this? I found many threads on the Internet related to this problem 0288, but without specific solutions. Please advise....

                    Dell 15R-5521 keyboard problem (KBC?)
                    by SDNarcia
Hello, I have a Dell 15R-5521, with the problem that the Ctrl, Alt, Shitf and Num Lock keys do not work, I tested the keyboard with a keyboard tester and it is functional, I also got another new keyboard and the computer has the same problem with the same keys. Check continuity between the ZIF connector from the keyboard to the KBC and all pins are correct. I cleaned the ZIF connector and the KBC and I still have the same problem. I reinstalled windows just in case, and it didn't work. I updated the BIOS to the latest version A16 and there were no changes.

                    As additional information,...
