My poor Bedside PC :'(

having some problems with my "bedside PC"
Issue:
-once it freezed up on my in the middle of using cPanel File Manager on my website... nothing resource-intensive was running otherwise.
-occassionally, when I get home, it's off, even though I swear it was on when I left the house.

other than that, I haven't had any problems at all with it...
other information:
-folding@home SMP 24/7 (some nights it's off, some nights it's on, even though it's like a foot from my head I engineered it from the ground up to be silent)...

specs:
-ECS motherboard with intel G31 chipset (LGA775)
-Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
-2GB DDR2 (2x1GB)
-40GB 2.5" SATA laptop HDD, screwed into the PCI slot hole on the case... pretty but it works fine.
-Seasonic Tornado 300W APFC PSU

what could be wrong?

I don't think so; it's a Core 2 Duo so it doesn't use a lot of power, additionally, the case fan is blowing out barely-warmed air.

I'd begin there... ECS hasn't been known for being the best quality (but they sure beat ASUS).

Probably just about anything, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Probably time to start removing non-essential parts and swapping parts out and see if you can stop the freezing and narrow it down a bit.

I kind of remember a thread from not too long ago (couple months?!) where someone had a ECS G31 µATX board which was completely dead to the world, without any visible signs of failure.

edit: turned out to be almost a year ago . Board was a ECS G31T-M

Mine's a G31T-M7

And it still froze up on me once a few days ago, I haven't used it since, until now...
I don't think (even with a new PSU and HDD) that my issues is resolved.

It could have bad caps OST as well as bad "elite" polies will fail without bulging.

EDIT: It looks like the 3 VRM high polies might only be 270uF (they should be 470uF when there are only 3) ECS
