Hi,
I’ve noticed that my S22 occasionally freezes and shuts down—about once a day. I’ve already done a factory reset, installed only the essential apps, and updated the software. I also tried enabling power-saving mode to limit the CPU to 70%. This reduced the frequency, but the issue still occurs from time to time.
When it shuts down, the casing becomes hot and stays that way. I then need to restart the phone by holding down Power and Volume Down.
I’ve run diagnostics and enabled Developer tools to monitor CPU, GPU, and refresh rate. Unfortunately, when the phone freezes, everything locks up, so I can’t capture useful data. Based on the symptoms, I suspect the issue is related to sustained CPU usage leading to overheating, which then triggers the freeze/shutdown.
I’m leaning toward a hardware issue, possibly related to thermal management or thermal paste. My background is in TV repair, so I’m not as familiar with modern smartphones.
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
