    Re: Mission critical

I just re-installed Windows on that laptop (was getting quirky and laggy) and I installed Firefox 3.6. So far I can access the site without an issue (right up to the registration bit though the tick boxes aren't open yet).

I do not have Java or flash installed... does this mean the site is flash and java free?

No. don't assume. Run all the way in there and make sure java & flash is on and all the updates installed. THis is why I like to see you have a powerful as you can afford notebook or desktop awhile ago. I remember that. Dual core P4 2.8, I'm not sure it can handle stress. Your P5K-E can take any E5xxx. This is much better than P4, just look at the performance charts and see what I mean.

If you need Java and Flash disabling NoScript is excellent.

            Firefox is now SATANIC
            by Hondaman
Now that I have your attention:

In the last few days, it looks like Firefox has changed their software terms so they are now evil and WILL sell your data.

I already use Palemoon for Win7 sometimes. Looks like I'll be switching to librewolf as well, as Youtuber Louis Rossman suggests. Palemoon still supports Win7, but sometimes pages don't work properly. The Google Chrome browser might also still work for Win7.

I will have no choice but to upgrade my Firefox, so that I can copy dozens of tabs into a document or spreadsheet, or go through the history to...

            A1706 2017 critical update
            by iMuhtaseb
this board suffered from a bad trackpad and bad keyboard after liquid damage; board was turning on no issues..
we've replaced the bad trackpad and bad keyboard no issues whatsoever.. during 2nd final checkup we booted to an external macOS and there started the critical update issue; it boots externally but to the internal SSD it shows critical update; tried Wi-Fi tried Ethernet tried Hotspot same thing..
One weird symptom is it takes too long to power on and show the Apple logo for some reason..

I've taken a look into the MLB and noticed tiny liquid around Q3100.. its...

MacBook Pro 13" Touchbar, model A1706 - Critical software update failed
            by survivalbloke
This machine came in with a no power complaint after a liquid spill. The only damage I found was on the two USB-C boards, so I replaced those, and the machine charges and fires up. However, if the internal LCD is connected to the logic board, when it boots, I will get a critical update failed warning and the only options are to shut down or try again - it's a loop. I am able to start up fine in safe boot. If I disconnect the internal LCD, I am able to boot normally to the OS. The customer doesn't want to invest any more money beyond what I already charged. Unfortunately, based on what I...

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-56 Critical Battery Low
            by Mohammed G
Laptop died, discovered shorted capacitor with a visual inspection, checked here and was able to find the cap value and replaced.

The laptop worked fine for a few days. Graphics stress tested and no problems.

The only problem was the battery showing 'plugged in' but not charging. Ran fine on AC and on battery until battery discharged. The next day, the laptop wouldn't start, only blinking blue LED and no power up.

Disconnected battery (Inc RTC battery), and now it switches on but shows 'CRITICAL BATTERY LOW' and powers off. No post or bios screen. Suspect...

Help me verify my NAND dump (attached) from LG SK10Y soundbar stuck in PLEASE WAIT - is it missing critical data?
            by Daniel Larsson
            Hi everyone,

I’m trying to bring a LG SK10Y soundbar back to life. Currently it is stuck in the “PLEASE WAIT” loop.

My conclusion so far is that something fails to boot fully, but it does start via eARC and can play perfectly good sound until watchdog shuts it down.

After dumping NAND with a T48 programmer, extracting with binwalk and exploring with Ghidra I think:
            • Kernel B is present, but no Kernel A. Is that normal?
            • SquashFS A/B are present
            • Bootloader is present
            • UBI region is completely empty (only volume 0 / layout volume exists)
            • No system.cfg,
            ...
