I made the test stand out of a neighbors discarded case that had no covers.
the pictures might be out of order. the weld does not look pretty kept burning through.

As long as it works, it's fine.
If you really wanted to make the welds pretty, you know the usual saying: the grinder and paint will make me the welder I ain't.

Not too long ago, I found a similar computer (skeleton) that I'm planning on turning into a case again (granted, more fancy and with see-through polycarbon windows... but we will see.) If that plan goes south, most likely it will end up in a way similar to yours.

What's funny, I'll occasionally reread that entire thread just to admire all the fabrication...so I know for a fact that it takes about an hour to go through and that's if I skim/skip most of the commentary and just focus on the tech & study the pics. I enjoyed creating it so much I can't imagine topping it.....until the next whim of a project....but I haven't come up with one yet. It's one of my better feats of engineering albeit perhaps a bit silly. Heck, you need to check the last couple pages, there's been a few revisions since you moved.

You have to keep the welder amps as low as possible so you are less likely to burn through the very thin metal

Are you using a flux welder or a stick welder

I like what you have come up with just take your time when trying to weld very thin metal
