    My new Motherboard test stand

I made the test stand out of a neighbors discarded case that had no covers.
the pictures might be out of order. the weld does not look pretty kept burning through.

As long as it works, it's fine.
If you really wanted to make the welds pretty, you know the usual saying: the grinder and paint will make me the welder I ain't.

Not too long ago, I found a similar computer (skeleton) that I'm planning on turning into a case again (granted, more fancy and with see-through polycarbon windows... but we will see.) If that plan goes south, most likely it will end up in a way similar to yours.

What's funny, I'll occasionally reread that entire thread just to admire all the fabrication...so I know for a fact that it takes about an hour to go through and that's if I skim/skip most of the commentary and just focus on the tech & study the pics. I enjoyed creating it so much I can't imagine topping it.....until the next whim of a project....but I haven't come up with one yet. It's one of my better feats of engineering albeit perhaps a bit silly. Heck, you need to check the last couple pages, there's been a few revisions since you moved.

Excellent. It beats my "pizza box" testing rig by a country mile (1.609344 kilometers) !!!

You have to keep the welder amps as low as possible so you are less likely to burn through the very thin metal

Are you using a flux welder or a stick welder

I like what you have come up with just take your time when trying to weld very thin metal

LG OLED C1, SOS-Turn Off, Stand alone test
              by ThetraXXL
              Hello guys,

I recently picked up an LG C1 in 65 inch size. Previous owner told me that the TV wonβ€˜t start, so I did believe due to PSU issue, but not this time. I could narrow it down to the T-Con or Panel.

PSU and Mainboard work both like intended, all Voltages available, Optical on when T-Con lower Ribbon is disconnected and I even managed to get some picture with P-Only, IN-STOP cycle but only for 2 sec. before shutdown.

For the stand alone test the panel starts with some flashing horizontal white lines and then continues to build up some color on the...

Asus ROG Strix Scar G533qm with a G733qm Motherboard, can I modify the Bios to accept G533 Bios
              by glovecaps
              Hello,

I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.

My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.

The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this...

Legion Y540 17irh motherboard issue ( need help to know how to diagnose my motherboard)
              by Docus
              Hi everyone πŸ˜€,

I'm here today to ask for help with repairing the motherboard of a Lenovo Legion Y540 17IRH.

To give you some context, I'm passionate about computer repair so much so that I've invested in a lot of tools and started practicing on dead and old hardware. I've been learning how to solder and desolder components, mostly focusing on phone repairs.

Recently, I bought a broken Lenovo Legion Y540 17IRH for just €150, and there are two main reasons why I made this purchase:
              1. I already own the exact same model, but its plastic chassis is badly damaged.

              ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
              by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:

              CPU VRM area up close…...

To save you some time: the most important bits are in bold.
Some further examples/explanations or to the side & in grey - you can probs skip them if it's TLDR for you. Sorry, I've got ADHD & tend to over-explain stuff - just like I'm doing right now πŸ˜… Briefness is for poets not me πŸ™ˆ

Please help!! 🎢I'm just a girl in a world that wants to scam me out of lots of money for any tech stuff/repairs 🎡 Seriously tho, I'm poor&I can't afford to get laptop diagnosis, especially if it ends up needing a new motherboard. Where I live, all the tech shops are run by very...
