    SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 SanDisk SSD Passwords

Ive got a bunch of these SDLFNCAR-960G-1HA2 ssds which unfortunately seemed to be password locked. Cant format or do anything with them.

When connected to PC via a usb adapter is detected but not initialised and cant to anything with it.

When connected to a laptop via sata just comes up with a HDD
password screen, with the option to go to a master password screen.

Cant enter bios as goes straight to password screen.

Can anything be done with these?

    search.
you can issue an ATA reset command that will wipe the drive.

        Google for "Secure Erase"
It is a command part of the ATA specification and all modern drives should support it.
The easiest way is usually to use the manufacturers (of the drive) tools to perform it.

Have been able to boot connected as a second drive via sata to my PC but drive isnt showing up in bios, windows etc unlike laptop which would just go straight to password.

tried sandisk dashboard which isnt picking up drive at all via sata. is seing something via USB but no options available and no model number.

tried AOMEI which is picking up drive and lets me get to the stage of secure erasing but then says your drive is protected by a password before prompting me to enter it.

Not getting anywhere with this, any other suggestions?

Do you have a Lenovo laptop?
If so try this utility: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/dow...drive-thinkpad

ill have one knocking about somewhere, but i assume will behave like the other laptop i used as in will boot straight into the password screen.

will give it a go though will let you know.

no luck using a T450, same issue password screen.

Tried hot swapping with another HDD but would fail when it realised is a different drive.

Tried Linux hdparm (never used linux before)

could read the drive and its status, which is locked, not frozen and supports secure erase.

Keep getting GD I/O errors. Tried loads of different commands and variations but no luck.

Tried Victoria HDD software, which showed security as locked, max.

                So frustrating

If "Parted" do not work , you have to start thinking which program was used to lock it .. There are many programs for locking devices , and some of them are so powerful , that virtually , nothing can unlock them without a password .

Even if there's a general password for a specific program , you won't be able to define which program it is ..

Try following this guide, it has worked for me in the past:
                        https://archive.kernel.org/oldwiki/a...ure_Erase.html

Does using Linux off a live usb make a difference to the procedure?

I’ve read a few times the target drive needs to be unmounted?

Yes it might, some live distros will automatically mount all drives it finds.
But you can just unmount it first, then there should be no issue...

Doesn’t let me unmount just gives error. I’ll try installing Linux fully onto ssd and try again.

Been browsing some hundreds of programs DVDs and CDs for some projects i'm deep into , and this program got my attention while at it .. It's called USB Lock AP 1.0 (YES, my version is old but anyway) . Its capabilities are amazing in locking different devices .. The problem yet remains as supposedly there are lot of similar ones ..
