Is this cap good or bad

It says 470uF 35w and is about 32mm length.

I measured with this device I have and I'm trying to understand if it's good or bad.,

Bad cap, it is showing the reading of 3401uF for the 470uF cap.

it's very bad, when you get huge capacitance readings it means the cap is internally shorting and causing the tester to pump more power into it during the test - as you can see in the VLOSS figure.

a polymer cap can be as high as 2.5%, some electrolytics as high as 1.5%.
anything more is bad.

BTW, Did you try checking other capacitors to see if it shows correct value using your meter.

I believe STJ is referring to the VLOSS (D.F. - Dissipation Factor or Tan).
VLOSS of 13% = to D.F. of 0.13

For example of Panasonic FR series has D.F. from 0.09 ~ 0.22

tolerance means the capacitance can vary by 20% over it's temperature range,
3401 is not within 20% of 470

Thanks for your support everyone.

I did replace it. Also this bad one was slightly bulging.

They combined series for this one in the chart. When I look for 470 35v the size isn't there but it's below. 15x31.5mm

I will ask in a separate thread for help or if there is virtual services offered.

85' temp caps are general purpose, the ESR is never given for them.
and the ripple current(the amount the cap can store and release) cant be tested on small testers.
