Replace OST RLP and Nich HM with what?

Apparently 1000uF 6.3v is being obsoleted off the planet. Those I need to replace are 8X11.5x3.5 from various motherboards, mainly near DDR2 ram slots and northbridges. If in fact they are being obsoleted, there must be some polys suitable for sustitution, but what? 8X15 or 8x16 lytics can still be had, but troublesome to fit in various spots, similar to 10mm.

Some years back, the board currently in need of resurrection had the same problem as just returned last night. Back then I replaced about 18 with new HM, the rest with FR. Now I can only get it to post by cutting DDR2 RAM back to only one slot. It had been running nicely for over 3 years with 4 2G sticks.

Is Panasonic FR with twice as much spec ESR as HM well enough suited to this task? What can anyone recommend? Some sort of poly?

STJ, thanks. I ordered these, so I wouldn't have to wait 35+ days for delivery from overseas.

is that how long you wait for china post??
it gets to europe in under 20 days.
it will be even faster soon, once the chinese rail link via russia and iran into the european network to germany is complete.
then it can travel by rail instead of ship

Those three ads all stated an estimated delivery time "X" days. The shortest X was 35. I've ordered from overseas before. Wait time has been highly variable, from under a week, to much more than a month. Orders from Mouser using lowest cost shipping arrive in as little as 3 days.

I live less than 250 miles from Mouser warehouse in Dallas and often get my goodies the next day.

thats not the root cause of your problem. the root cause of your problem is the usage of a junk psu outputting lots of ripple and killing even the jap caps. thats why the problem returned again. either recap the psu with good caps as well or get rid of it and get an ultra-low ripple modern psu platform like the superflower leadex series or evga g2/g3 series.

Its PS is an Antec EA-430. I already replaced its OSTs with (mostly) Nichicons years ago. The CPU is 65W TDP. 3 500G Seagates as of a few months ago, was 1 for past several years until a few months ago, originally 2 320G when it was my LAN server. Passively cooled Radeon video. So this is not a power hungry configuration, and it doesn't get used enough to justify throwing much money at it.

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
                      by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
                      Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...

Opinions/Advice on Do/Should I replace ALL Electrolytic Capacitors on old equipment?
                      by RetroComputingGrotto
I've just been repairing some (very) old speakers with a loud hum that occurred as soon as you powered them on regardless if any actual audio is played through them. I work in a School so it's 99% likey that the Teachers have hardly ever turned the power off on them for well over 10+ years.

As you can see the top large capacitor on the right has a bulge on the top so defincately needs replacing. As the one next to it is exactly the same capacity and voltage I planned to replace them both.

What is your advice/opinion on whether or not on old(er)...

Is it okay to replace 1/2 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor in AC/DC adapter?
                      by chth96
I have purchased an 100-240v AC/5v 2a DC adaptor from aliexpress, and a month ago It smelled burning when I plugin it powerstrip.
Since then, This AC/DC adaptor have been out of order.
But A few days ago,I replace 0.5 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor(1ohm) in this adapter.
After replacing resistor,It succeed to recharge all of android phone. And When I measure voltage on the two pins of USB port,It shows 5.5v
Is it okay to replace 1/2 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor in AC/DC adapter?
And Is there any possibility that it will suddenly explode as well as to be out...

Conformal coating on Samsung U32D970 monitor PSU, do I need to replace after repair?
                      by psyduck
I have a Samsung U32D970 monitor from 2015 I pulled out of the bad hardware pile that turned on and then turned itself back off after a few minutes of use and refused to turn back on. The PSU has part number BN44-00786A, and I found a couple posts about one that had blown with damage to the MOSFETs and PWM controller - but nothing about intermittent failures. I started a new thread and said that I would refresh the solder joints on the board to see if it was just a bad connection and possibly replace the PWM and PFC ICs. I then asked what my next course of action would be after those steps. I...

on the board, il have 2 capacitor 470µf that are dead and the 3.3v regulator : ax6630-33
i have no such regulator, can i replace this one with a mic5209-33 (3.3v outpout regulator too) ?

                      thank you
