"Ultimate Electronics" store on AliExpress -- fakes?

This store sells a good range of apparently good quality caps at keen (not massively cheap but keen) prices. Ranging from cheap OSTs and Samwhas to Panasonics and Nichicons.

I've bought a few packs (not spent much -- a few dollars) and if they are fakes, someone's taken care to present them properly.

They look just like the real thing -- well-printed labels, bungs and vents look correct, ESRs are consistent with genuine caps (the one set of Chemicon 1500uF caps that were highish ESR turned out to be a GP range, and that was my bad for not checking).

So they seem legit -- anyone had any dealings with them?

Nope. I always get my caps from Digikey or Mouser.

That said, it would be interesting to get a pack of Japanese capacitors from that place and compare it directly to some of my Japanese capacitor stock that is know to be real.

The only thing that worries me about AliExpress is returns/refunds. At least with eBay, if you get fake caps, you can always open a case and you will get your money refunded without needing to return the product. It's not about the money. And I know it seems mean to take a sellers item and get your money back. But IMO, we should not reward fake/counterfeit capacitor manufacturers in any way.

Anyways, just my 2 cents. I personally wouldn't risk getting counterfeit caps when there is Digikey and Mouser available where I am, in addition to the badcaps.net store. Thanks for posting the link, though. I guess if someone is curious, they can always try this and let us know.

Repairing a Music Store Professional GO! SUB 18A
        by h0m3w0rk
        Hello everyone,

I'm working on repairing a Music Store Professional GO! SUB 18A bass subwoofer, and I need some help troubleshooting an issue with the power amplifier board. The board uses an IR2153 driver and originally had two SLW20N50C MOSFETs. Unfortunately, these MOSFETs burned out. I replaced them with two TK20J60W MOSFETs; however, these also failed almost immediately.

        Here are some details:
        • SLW20N50C (original):
          • Rated for 500 V
          • Typical RDS(ON): 0.21 Ω
          • Continuous Drain Current: 20 A at 25°C (13 A at 100°C)
          • Pulsed Drain Current: 80 A
          • Avalanche

Cheap Aliexpress Capacitor: Much smaller than original. Safe to use?
        by nobbnobb1
I am trying to get a set of Creative T40 computer speakers to work again of which I believe the problem is bad caps (470uF @ 35V). So I get a generic set off Aliexpress. The brands are meaningless, but if anyone cares it's a "Chongx"

When they arrive, to my surprise it's much smaller than the originals. These are 8mm x 15mm whereas the OE is 10mm x 20mm. Unfortunately my meter does not test capacitance but I'm guessing there's no way this meets spec at 80% the size.

Thoughts? Is it still worthwhile or safe to try and install these to see if...

        MEC1503 from aliexpress
        by rumpumpel1
        Hi,

a few weeks ago I saw offers for a MEC1503 on aliexpress. Out of curiosity, I bought one and was a bit surprised when the chip arrived: as you can see in the picture, it was significantly smaller than the original in my ThinkPad. Does this chip really exist in 2 sizes or is it just a fake?
