• I've ordered the following SMD components to change them all based on the board markings, and I'd appreciate confirmation that these are the correct parts for the IR2153 circuit:

    • WH – A surface-mount Zener diode. According to SMD marking databases, “WH” typically corresponds to a BZT52C12 series diode (≈12 V Zener) used for clamping the IR2153 VCC.
    • 2L – A transistor marked “2L,” which is generally identified as the MMBT5401. This device is rated for around 150 V, which fits the higher voltage requirements on this board.
    • 24...

  • Repairing a Music Store Professional GO! SUB 18A

    Hello everyone,

I'm working on repairing a Music Store Professional GO! SUB 18A bass subwoofer, and I need some help troubleshooting an issue with the power amplifier board. The board uses an IR2153 driver and originally had two SLW20N50C MOSFETs. Unfortunately, these MOSFETs burned out. I replaced them with two TK20J60W MOSFETs; however, these also failed almost immediately.

    Here are some details:

SLW20N50C (original):

Rated for 500 V
Typical RDS(ON): 0.21 Ω
Continuous Drain Current: 20 A at 25°C (13 A at 100°C)
Pulsed Drain Current:...

  • Random Shutdowns/Startup Failure with Corsair SFX 450

    Hello everyone,

I'm encountering a frustrating issue with my Corsair SFX 450 power supply. After an undefined period of operation, my PC will either suddenly restart or, in some cases, it won't start at all until I disconnect the power cable and reconnect it. This erratic behavior occurs intermittently, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact conditions under which it happens.

For context, I have tested the PSU using an electronic load at 150W, and under those controlled conditions, it functions flawlessly. This leads me to...

  • Hello, thank you for your concern. Unfortunately, it turned out that the issue is with the microcontroller. Using the oscilloscope, it was clear that the power supply was stable, but the IC repeatedly failed to drive the crystal oscillator q2 which is directly connected to the IC
I conducted multi-channel measurements with the oscilloscope.

    Thank alot!

  • Hello everyone!

My name is h0m3w0rk, and I have a deep passion for electronics repair. Ever since I can remember, I've been fascinated by how things work—and more importantly, how they can be fixed. From restoring old radios to troubleshooting modern computer components, I love the challenge of breathing life back into broken gadgets.

My journey into electronics began with curiosity and a few stubborn appliances that refused to work. After some trial and error (and a few sparks here and there), I found myself hooked. Over the years, I've gathered a variety of tools,...

  • Kermi IRT 10 Towel Dryer Infrared Thermostat

    Hi everyone,

I have a Kermi infrared wireless room thermostat that simply does not function as it should.

The display turns on sporadically or remains completely off. When the display is on, I can use the buttons (rubber domes) and navigate through the menus. Sometimes the display shows plausible text but does not respond to button presses. In other cases, the device is entirely inactive.

After detailed measurements, I found 5V almost everywhere across the board, which indicates a stable power supply. However, the mentioned issues persist.

    Based...
