    MSI MegaBox - MS6760 Motherboard

    Hey all

    Posting From New Zealand!

Just picked up an MSI MegaBox thats not doing whats its supposed to do, i've disassembled it, and had the motherboard plugged into PSU, all I get from it is a high pitched squealing noise, from somewhere near a bank of capacitors, I can't spy any bulging on any of the caps on the board, nor any exploding.

Is the squealing noise something a set of caps that are beyond hope will do?

Powersupply fans don't spin up, nothing on the board spins up, all I get is the squealing!

Thankyou to anyone who can help shed some light on this If you require more info to help diagnose, let me know and i'll see what I can do

also, took HS/Fan off of the SIS onboard Chip, no visible signs of damage/cracking or anything on this chip.

          hi,

i have the same problem. changed nearly every cap on the board, but it did not change. i found a workaround:

connect the psu with the board. then use a wire to connect pin 13 (green) of the atx connector with ground (black). the psu fan will spin up and then spin down again. now the high pitch noise disappears.

after that i am able to start the pc with the normal powerswitch. it works until i disconnect the psu from ac. after plugging it in again, i have the same problem.

          perhaps this works for you?

          greetings,

          sc2k

if your still in existence, is this still working out for you; or did you find a better solution? I have inherited one of these with the same symptoms and workaround....
