Hi, i recently acquired an old pc from a friend and he was telling me that sometimes the screen turned off randomly, so when i got it i changed the power supply to one that i already had, put different ram, a new gfx card and a clean hard drive with windows XP. Luckily i didnt have to purchase any of this as i already had these spare components.
HOWEVER the pc still switches off the monitor randomly and goes into a freeze. I cant press num-lock, ctrl-alt-del or anything and the computer is stuck running with no output to the monitor. Sometimes it takes 5 mins for this to occur but sometimes it won't happen at all. I can't even turn it off from the power switch on the pc when it does happen, i have to turn it off from the power-point!! And sometimes the pc doesnt even load the BIOS when i turn on my pc again. Btw i am using a different monitor to the one my friend had.
Then i came across this site and was a little intrigued. I am pretty sure that i have badcaps but take a look at these pics and tell me what you think...is it definitely badcaps??
All that orange stuff is only coming out of the capcitors around the CPU. Luckily i didnt purchase any upgrades for the PC.
SO all i wanna know is it definitely bad capacitors causing these problems???
Thanks
