    Caps replaced, still a problem!?

So 14 caps got replace on my Gigabyte Ga-7DXR mobo. The comp is working wonderfully better than it did when i got it. Replacing them solved a lot of my issues with stop errors program crashes and so forth. There was also one other problem i was having that i blamed on the caps. And that was my Optical drives not working. In particular The newsest one i have a Sony DRU-830A. Ok so heres the deal. The drive recognizes when Audio CD's or program disc not on a dvd cd. So here is my major problem this drive supports everykind of dvd data there is from +r, -r, +rw, -rw, +r dl, -R dl, -ram, plus all the cds, cd-rw, cd-r, cd-rom, and also dvd-rom. The drive does not recognize any of the dvd type discs none of them. Ive tried everything i know from updating firmware, to changing IDE cable, Different IDE locations on the mobo, Slowing it down and speeding it up. Iv uninstalled and reinstalled so many times that i think im gonna go nuts. Can anyone give me a bit of insite please. Some specs

    Different drives doesn't help any?

Might be the IDE controller is malfunctioning.

Nope the other drive i have is a cd-rw drive and it works fine after the re capping and fresh install. And this drive works great aside from the dvd part of it. I thought it might have been the IDE cont. also but assumed that i would be having problems with all types of media and not just one. But then again i could be wrong ive heard of electronics being picky!!

If the drive doesn't read DVDs, it's bad.

You know every forum ive been in seems like people are so up on jumping on the DRIVE IS BAD wagon. As i mentioned in my post before.... Drive works perfectly fine on another computer. Meaning no issues no problems ready and writes all media types........

My next move in solving this problem is to use another Operating System and see if it works on that same computer. I would use a live Linux distribution (just so you do not have to install it, just run it from the CD). If you still can not read DVD's even from Linux, then you can rule out a software fault. That would at least narrow it down to either hardware or BIOS fault.

Hope I gave you some idea's.

Ahhh ok i will give it a shot and get back to you. I have to get ahold of a buddy thought so it might take me a min or two. Just curious if ive ruled out the possibility of the drive itself being bad what else am i looking at when it comes to hardware failure. Also would it be fixable. And would the bios fault be fixable if it turns out that would be the problem. thanks

With regards to the BIOS....it would most likely be some weird setting somewhere in there. It is extremely unlikely to be faulty since your computer works just fine. Did you try to clear the BIOS settings at all? If it is a BIOS setting that is screwing it, then that should fix it up.

Needless to say the problem should not be there, however you never know. Clearing the BIOS settings will most likely just add to the things that you tried.

Where did you mention that? All I see is that it can still read CDs and that your other drive works fine.

DVD drives have two laser units in them, one for DVD media and one for CD media. The symptoms you describe (being able to read CDs but not DVDs) suggest the DVD laser has failed.

Ah well sorry harvey i thought i put that in my original post. But yes the drive works fine in other computers. And Shadow i have cleared my cmos (used the jumper).
Alright and now the drive has stopped recognizing audio CD's. So now im down to the drive only recognizing programs discs. So anymore thoughts.

Did you try flashing the BIOS to the newest version? I know you said you updated the firmware, but to me that refers to the optical drives' firmware.

When you say "stopped recognizing" - does the drive make any attempt at spinning the disc when you put one in? How about if you try the drive without an IDE lead connected and powered up from a cold start (to rule out something in the BIOS doing strange things to the drive)?

                          A very strange issue....

                            Hi.
You didn't by any chance happen to have installed any game protected with Starforce.
That malware copy protection is known to screw with optical drive units.

                              Hi!!! Nice Day/Night

I bought a GTX 650Ti on Aliexpress, that could be the first problem... I think the card was built in a custom build version because it has 4 GB DDR5 of 2700 MHz memory (According to all programs except GPU-Z).

With GPU-Z everything is fine except the value of the memory frequency, the software says that the memory frequency is 1350 MHz with reference to the original models of this graphic card.

After opening the package, I disassembled the cooler and checked all the parts and the most important one, the GPU processor. Everything...

I'm looking for help finding the correct audio driver for my Thomson P14C4BK128 laptop.
The sound is not working properly, and I believe the audio driver is missing or not installed correctly.

                              Here are the details:
                              • Model: Thomson P14C4BK128
                              • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit

If anyone has a working link to the driver or knows where I can download it, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

how to install gl usb2.0 uvc camera device driver on windows 10

Hello all am trying to reinstall my AMCAP Microscope on windows 10 but it is not working anymore. But the cam and the drivers are present in the Device Manager but there it saysWindows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) the drivers is : gl usb2.0 uvc camera device driver and i also get this mesage: Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error.
but it is quite strange because it did work on this same OS for one week ago and even for sometimes ago on that same but now nix.
                              any help?
