    Anybody seen Panasonic caps failing?

    I just wondering if anybody of you guys here seen LowESR Panasonic caps (FR, FM, FC Series) failing? I'm using these many many years now when I'm doing repairs but never got one device back with one of the replaced caps failing.
    Second question I am really curious about: are there any device that are natively populated with these caps mentioned above? I personally have never seen any of them in consumer electronics, PC components or whatever - not even in medical devices (AGFA prefers the use of Oscon there)!

      I've seen them fail in Panasonic TV's, usually around the 10 year mark.

          Some older 2007-2008 plasmas had a few bad Panasonics, but usually small value general purpose near big hot heatsinks, so less likely to be an issue in normal applications.

              normally due to lifespan... a decade of usage or exposed in high heat

                  dont remember what series but seen leakers in panasonic built viewsonic 21" monitors.
                  a few caused fires!
                  cant blame the caps though.these were packed in tight with hot parts.design flaw.

                      I will agree too about the 10 year mark, and this is not the limit.
                      SONY CRT monitor failed after 12 years, all caps were in top shape and I use them as spare parts in other repairs.
                      ESR tested by the DE-5000 all of them was as new.

                          I too have successfully used Chemicon and Panasonic caps from 10-12 years old CRT monitors to fix 3-4 year old LCD TVs. They will likely last another 4-5 years as they weren't stressed too much in those big beasts, plenty of room inside.

                              First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

                              I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

                              I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

                              Hello!

                              I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.

                              The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.

                              I picked up a Panasonic NH-P70G2, though it would apply to the NH-P80G2, NH-P70G1 and NH-P80G1 models as well, as maybe some other models. This one was coming up with a H86 error. After lots of testing and googling it was an error with one of the thermistors in the condenser area.
                              The attached French service manuals is incorrect, TH11 is gray and is a 95k thermistor and TH12 is black and is a 35k thermistor.
                              In my case TH12 was bad. I was able to get a 35k thermistor on AliExpress. It's 6mm in diameter.
                              Unfortunately the whole machine has to come apart to fix it.

                              I do have several old pc motherboards which i recapped 10 year ago and some of those caps are bulged now.
                              I would like to upgrade them using solid capacitors. I do use them for testing and helping some alternative operating systems.
                              I would like to ask if such an upgrade can be done, what should i have in mind when replacing electrolytic by solid caps and if such thing exist, if there are caps list for old motherboards. I would have to figure out what caps needs each motherboard and then prepare a list to try to ask for them on some electronics stores.
