    Basic (I think) cap questions...

I'm completely new to this, and have what i think are two basic questions...

First Question: When replacing a cap with an imperfect match, which is more important? Farads or volts? I have been assuming farads, but wanted to make sure I wasn't jumping to conclusions.

For example, if I am pulling a 2200uF/25v cap, would I be ok replacing it with a 2200uF/35v cap? or a 10v cap?

Second Question: How do you determine which caps are the startup caps?

I apologize if these are already answered somewhere else, I browsed for a bit and didn't see any obvious threads

My apologies, I just realized that I started this thread under the FAQs section. I don't see an option to delete my own thread, so I guess I'll just leave it here for a mod to delete or move.

You should normally replace like with like unless you can find a reliable source that says otherwise.

You can safely go a voltage step higher but for most purposes (as a beginner) not lower. You would of course have to make sure a larger value cap will physically fit

      =
On the Power supply for Tvs and Monitors there are some small caps
on the primary side of 25v or 50v and anywhere between 10 and 220
      uf, 68uf is common
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair
