    Spot the fakes

While Lee's Electronics on Main may be one of the best places in the city to get electronic components nobody else has, don't trust their caps.

The entire lot of 40 caps we ordered from them are counterfeit.

Looks like it says Rukycon... But I'm guessing the shop probably didn't know they were fake.

Stick them all in power outlets and see what happens

those are actually pretty good fakes. You'd have to have a good eye to spot them. What's the bung like on the bottom?

Side by side with the original, the font gives them away.

I have yet to see any place in Canada that has decent quality caps.

                  Re: Spot the fakes

They look identical to the real caps with the exception of the silkscreening.
It's starting to make me wonder now just how much of our order is counterfeit. We ordered several different ratings and brands of capacitors to refill our inventory.

RP Electronics had genuine Panasonic FM caps the last time I went to their store.

                        Re: Spot the fakes

So far I've only ordered capacitors from RS Components and Farnell (I think in USA they're called Allied Electronics and Newark, respectively) and I've never had a problem with their stock.

Price is good too, I'm sure at least one of them ships to Canada.
