Hello my name is Debra. I am not liking the fact that my HP W1907 Monitor is shutting off. I have decided to try to dx, test & repair it. Hopefully I will be able to...The postings seem to be pretty straight forward. Fingers Crossed!

          Hello,

My name is Daryl and I live in Girard, Ohio, USA with my wife.
We have 5 children all adults with their own families.
I studied electronics in high school and college and went to work for a major cable television company where I eventually left my first love, electronics, for management.

37 years later the company is consolidating positions and eliminates a slew of middle manager positions, mine included. What a blessing to be out of there for so many reasons. I kept up electronics as a hobby over the years and still have most of the test equipment and components I've collected. I fix things for friends and family and buy some vintage electronics at local auctions and sell it on eBay.

My first computer was a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 1 Level II with 16K (K as in Kilobytes) of memory. I wrote programs in basic that were stored on a cassette tape and drooled at the thought of someday having a 5 1/4" floppy drive ($499 for the drive and $299 for the expansion interface that had the drive controller!)

I found BadCaps looking for information about a Sylvania flat screen TV. I found the exact problem AND solution - How Cool! I was able to fix my son's TV in record time.

I like what I see here. I like the name "bad caps" which is usually what needs replaced in the tube gear I repair. Hope to learn more and share some of what I know and experience.

          Thanks
          Daryl

                      Hello everyone.

I am a 25 year old guy from Romania. I am unemployed and i bought some equipment for reworking bga's. I have no experience in the electronic domain but i am eager to learn. I found BadCaps looking for information about reworking.

I have a lot of questions because i encountered a lot of problems, I will get into that more once i can start a thread to ask the proper questions.

OK hello all my foray into the badcaps forum has to to with a Mitsubishi DLP WD60735 that has the dreaded blinking green light. I will try to post my question/query in the Troubleshooting TVs and Video Sources forum, which is where I had seen a link to problems with the WD60735!

                          Good to be here . . .

I'm new here obviously! Found this site and though it would be cool to meet other technicians with similar interests.

My background is AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology and working on my BA
I have been and Etechnician since 199. First working on medical electronic circuit boards for a large manufacturing company then after 12 years of work there I went on to working on Government Contract job for DOD. Now I am an Electronics Maintenance technician working with flight simulation for the Govt.

I dabble in repairing broken TVs in my spare time. Just learning though!

Hello guys. My name is Don Oser. I am from Lafayette,La. I am 44 years old but don't act like it. I have a associates degree in electronics but never had a job that I could continue learning on the component level. My solder skills are decent and I get a lot of practice due to my love for radio control electric car and truck hobby. That's a whole other addiction. What's got me fired up now is acquiring my fathers 1984 Rotel 2000 series rack system. I took ownership of the stereo last Sunday. I took a chance and powered it up and it still rocks. So what's got me on this forum is I want to replace the caps and clean up switches and stuff like that. I look forward to reading through these forums and hopefully one day asking some questions. I currently work on oil and gas producing platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. I am considered a technician. I work on fire and gas detection systems, PA systems, navaid lights and fog horns.

Hi, I am a retired Electrical Engineer which has had electronics as a hobby for over 50 years. I love to fix things that I get at garage sales more than use them. I usually give them away after I get them fixed.

This is a great site. Much more info than just capacitor problems.
