Re: LG 50PA6500 Plasma TV damaged after a power spike

Just checked both buffer boards, probably no shorts! (tested every connector twice) so it's likely that PDP panel should be fine!

Tomorrow will try to test YSUS boards without these three IGBT's, if it fail then I'll order the new ones and we will see what happen when replaced.

Re: LG 50PA6500 Plasma TV damaged after a power spike

I mean I tested them and they seems to be fine (both buffers).

Today I did a test with Y-SUS board connected without these IGBT's which were shorted.

Before that, when YSUS was connected, logic board status led was compeletely off. Now it works and at least I can do the PDP test, please have a look below (it works like that without 3 IGBT's and 3 high voltage capacitors as I took them off to have some more space for IGBT's desoldering).

I think PDP should be fine and I need to focus on the Y-SUS board now.

        I am sure that Q401/Q402 (RJP63K2) + Q509 (K8A60DA) + diode D562 + probably diode D256 are all damaged and will replace them.

Now the question, what else to order and replace on YSUS board? I see these components are quite cheap so I'll also order switching optocouplers(TLP105) just in case. What else?

        Thanks!

PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV damaged after a power spike
          by tofik
Hello, I have an PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV, purchased new in 2009.
Unfortunately plasma is not working at all after a power spike. Standby LED is not even working.

I did some quick tests, YSUS + ZSUS MOSFETS and IGBT's are free from shorts, diodes on these modules seems to also be fine, buffer board is free from shorts as well.

Anyway I focused mainly on the PSU, did some voltage tests with the results as below, I attached them on the photo (also please see attached PDF with the SERVICE MANUAL for this model, page number 43).

          I understand...

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
          by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

          Y-SUS repair (EAX64282201) (LG Plasma)
          by tofik
          Hi,

I believe many people here have an experience with a broken YSUS module so I decided to create a new thread.

I got a LG plasma which is dead after a power spike, mainboard and logic has been already replaced, PSU is fine.

Now I am (at least) trying to fix Y-SUS which is EAX64282201.

          What I already found:
          - two traces were damaged like on the picture below, I already fixed them,
          - diode D562 is damaged (resistance 0 ohm),
          - visibly nothing else looks bad on the pcb,

          I tested all transistors...

ASUS Rog Strix G17-712LV Laptop Liquid damaged
          by XxMicroSoldering
          Hello Guys

I have a ASUS Rog strix laptop that I bought recently to fix and the previous owner spilled water on it . He brought it into a repair shop for them to check it out and instead of fixing it they damaged the battery connector of the laptop ! Other than that they damaged damaged nothing . But since the liquid damage the laptop only turns on and the keyboard lights up and then immediately turns off. I really want to repair this laptop and I also have experience in repairing phones etc and laptops and a bit of soldering but the diagnosing part is where I need help with and...

Panasonic Plasma 2008 TH-42PV/PX series - Removing the coating from the Front Glass
          by tongshadow
I got this set for very cheap, it works perfectly but the catch is that the protective coating was damaged. About 45% of the screen had a green tint, you can see exactly where the layer changed colors to a blueish tone (that actually makes everything green).

"Ok, that's probably just the anti-glare layer" - I thought. So using a microfiber cloth and automotive metal polish I was easily able to turn it into a nice mirror.

Unfortunately, the damage was beyond this layer and everything still had a horrible green tint. I initially...
