    Y-SUS repair (EAX64282201) (LG Plasma)

    Hi,

I believe many people here have an experience with a broken YSUS module so I decided to create a new thread.

I got a LG plasma which is dead after a power spike, mainboard and logic has been already replaced, PSU is fine.

Now I am (at least) trying to fix Y-SUS which is EAX64282201.

    What I already found:
    - two traces were damaged like on the picture below, I already fixed them,
    - diode D562 is damaged (resistance 0 ohm),
    - visibly nothing else looks bad on the pcb,

I tested all transistors for shorts to gnd and also between drain/gate/source. Resistors, diodes and capacitors also has been tested for shorts.

    - diode D256 is 3 ohm (test on the pcb so far), probably also damaged,
    - transistor Q509 - all legs shorted, took it off from the pcb, tested again, confirmed > all legs shorted,
    - also found a short on Q401 + Q402 + D401 - desoldered them all, tested and Q401 + Q402 are definitely damaged (short between legs number 2 to 3), D401 seems to be fine.

The rest of the transistors seems to be okay, no shorts to gnd and no between their legs.

Did not test the smd resistors linked to IGBTs yet.
About switching optocouplers (TLP105) - what's the easiest way for testing them?

Any suggestions what to check now? I don't have any obvious shorts on this PCB now but feel there will be something else damaged, what do you think?

    Q401 and Q402 are both RJP63K2, Q509 is: K8A60DA.
Any chance to test PDP without them?

I am working on an LG plasma, and found this PDF to be invaluable

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...3&d=1517627618

In my case I found a total of 8 IGBT's that tested bad. I have replacements on order, don't know i that is the issue or not

Thanks for your message and pdf, definitely will have a look.

So in your case 8 igbts were damaged and what else?

That's all I have found so far. All voltages coming from the power board are correct, but the control board dies not turn on. The control board gets it's power from the Y board, and when I found bad igbts there, that was the first thing I ordered up.

The main board could be bad, and I am going to reflow both boards even though under my microscope all the joints look good some people have had luck refloeinng boards with no visible bad joints

Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS

          Greetings all!

Originally this set had the usual messed up video symptoms such as: horizontal lines, weak, grainy video, bottom and top of picture differ in intensity of problem. It also seemed to slow to turn on or show the messed up picture.

Seemed like must be YScan/buffer board failure. Ordered buffer boards from my distributor which were supposed to be original/new and also from another distributor, I ordered the YSUS because I wanted to replace it for preventative maintenance. (also, the YSUS had a bulged cap, so there was even more reason to suspect it could...

plasma TV Lg 42w451 - why is the zsus igbts damaged when the ysus is plugged?
          by Salvatore057
          Hi all,
I am trying to fix my plasma TV which is not powering on due to damaged IGBTs. I have changed two igbts and 2 IC drivers on the zsus and also two igbts on the ysus.
Now everytime I plugged the ZSUS and the YSUS boards to the power board, the two 30f124 IGBT on the ZSUS are damaged and the TV stays in standby mode. When I plug the ZSUS board alone the TV turns ON but I do not see pictures. When I plug the ZSUS board without the two 30f124 IGBTs and the YSUS board, the TV powers on with a picture.
I am lost, should I change the YSUS board? Is the YSUS board damaging...

          Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV
          by ArMaaN376
          Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
          a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
          c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

          Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
          by jm1234
          Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
          by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...
