  • If you have a short between VS and ground it means:
All YS IGBTs are shorted, and their respective diodes
All YG IGBTs are shorted, and their respective diodes
Other MOSFETS might be shorted too, such as the YFR/YFF ones

Check the X-Board too for shorts too, it's in series with the Y-SUS Board, so any issues there can affect the other board.

I would recommend buying replacement boards, cant really find proper IGBT replacements unless you rip them out from a good board.

  • Re: Samsung Plasma PN43E450A1F - No Picture / Pop Sound

Plasma boards are NOT meant to be serviced, and yes replaced. Add to the fact that it's IMPOSSIBLE to source original IGBTs/FETs nowadays, they're all fake and blow up. So replacing the boards is the most economical option.

I have a similar Samsung Plasma, if either YSUS or X-Board are bad, one will make the other fail. Always replace BOTH.

  • Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

Been running the set for 16 hours so I guess it's safe to say it's been fixed, model is P50V20B. Will definitely post again if something bad happens.

I used TNPA 5105 parts, mostly identical components but had to substitute some of them.

    Q421/Q422 - DG402RP replaced by RJP43F4A
Q621/Q622 - 30F125 replaced by higher spec 30J127 and 30F124. These are from Samsung YSUS Boards, the TNPA 5105 comes with a single RJP3034, which is probably fine but I wanted to go higher spec.
    Q661 - RJP63F3A replaced by RJP63F4A....

  • Re: Panasonic Plasma 2008 TH-42PV/PX series - Removing the coating from the Front Gla

I only scratched the glass when making the cutouts to pull the tinted layer, the box cuter went a little deeper than expected and I got nice straight cuts. However, the glass is very resistant, I didnt notice any micro scratches from the steel wool+metal polish.
It's always a good idea to try less abrasive materials on smaller areas to see how it affects the glass.

That said, out of curiosity I browsed my local ads looking for similar Panasonic models to see if they had the...

  • Panasonic Plasma 2008 TH-42PV/PX series - Removing the coating from the Front Glass

I got this set for very cheap, it works perfectly but the catch is that the protective coating was damaged. About 45% of the screen had a green tint, you can see exactly where the layer changed colors to a blueish tone (that actually makes everything green).

"Ok, that's probably just the anti-glare layer" - I thought. So using a microfiber cloth and automotive metal polish I was easily able to turn it into a nice mirror.

Unfortunately, the damage was beyond this layer and everything still had a horrible green tint. I initially...

Update. List of bad parts based off the SC Board repair kit.

Red checkmark = Bad, needs to be replace
    Blue X = Good
?? = Unable to determine, will compare to a good board

I couldnt find a spare TNPA5081 board, so I ordered a TNPA5105 board because it has enough identical components, except for DG402RP, I'll need to find a proper replacement for that.
And no, I didnt order parts from China or so-called "new parts" because they're a 100% fake. Plasmas havent been in production for...

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. Good to see someone logged the maintenance process for this board, very hard to find solid info.
I recently got one of these Panasonic Plasmas that use the same board, 4 blinks error. The power supply has shots and so does the SS board. The SC board? Well, take a look at it...

Yea, something REALLY bad happened, I've never seen a FET go out like this.
I couldnt find a new SC board for sale, so I'll try my hand at repairing it. These sets are worth saving because it's a 1080p...
