    Vizio M70-C3 Issue

I have a Vizio M70-C3 I replaced the LEDs on. That all went fine (had to redo a few solder joints, but no problem). Panel was working great after reassembly (handling that thing is nerve racking, especially when it's 70"). But when I went to do final assembly, it appears one of the flat flex cables between the TCON and the thin PCBs attached to the panel came lose and was in its connector crooked. After that, half the display didn't work correctly (symptoms hard to describe - see attached pictures, best description is that half the display seems to show white and black OK, but other colors are just wrong and it almost looks like the display oddly low resolution in the affected areas). I also think I may have smelled an electronics burning smell on the first power up after that. I don't feel any chips being especially hot, but that doesn't mean something isn't damaged.

So, what I'm wondering is if I only damaged the TCON (a runtk5556tp) or I might have damaged the panel too. My assumption is that the flat flex cables have signal pins interspersed with ground pins and having the cable in the connector improperly resulted in some of the drivers in the TCON being shorted to ground, something they probably didn't like very much. It doesn't appear there are any buffer chips on the flex cables that bond to the panel, so any damage on the panel side would have to be in the panel itself. So, maybe the panel is OK, but I don't know what sort of signals come out of that TCON and what might damage the panel.

Is there a good way to troubleshoot this, short of ordering another TCON? I have a reasonably fast oscilloscope (200MHz), so I could maybe probe some of the signals and see if they are still alive. What should those signals look like? Could I swap sides on the TCON? Or am I pretty much doomed to roll the dice on a TCON? Funny thing is, I could probably sell the PSU and digital board for more than I paid for the TV and have enough left over to be a good way towards a brand new 70" TV (on sale). But then I'd hate to maybe throw away a perfectly good panel.

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
    by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

    Vizio P759-G1, Tcon issue?
    by EazyBone
Got this TV free. Guy said it tries to turn on and doesn't. I haven't seen this specific issue before but shown in video. Any way to test the screen to rule it out on these Vizio? Or anyone seen this issue before?

    Any help appreciated

TCL 43S423 TCON OR PANEL FAULTY???
    by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
    by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...
