I have a Philips Magnavox that has been in a spare room for a while and i would like to give it to my daughter who will be moving out for her college education. Unfortuately, when i tried to turn it on to make sure it was still okay, i heard a tic-tac sound that is coming from the back part of the TV and no display/sound... in some tries the green led comes on for a blink and goes off again..only thing i hear power related is that tic and tac sound..Any help would be much appriciated..I am some what of a handy guy, im able to do mid-level fixings..Thanks in advance..

How old is the PTV? Usually Caps in the main power circuit need to be checked. A schematic of the model will help. Do goggle searches on Philips or this link might have what you need? http://www.techlore.com Resources then service manuals -

PTV775 is notorious for the opto-isolator failing in the main SMPS unit. along with the HOT or HV out transistors.Comment
