can you damage screen panel with high voltage

hi i have philips led tv i had vertical lines all over the screen so i was testing voltages on board connected directly to screen below t-con
i accidently shorted two caps just above flat cables going to screen 20v and 2v and the 2/3 of the left side of the screen has gone white but vertical lines are still there i still have all the voltages on caps nothing is shorted so im just wondering is it posible i damaged the screen (burned pixels) when i shorted caps ot its posible the t-con board got damaged, thank you

Be careful, though: it is possible to damage a new tcon due to a fault with the panel.

If I understood you correctly you made a short on the board that connects between the TCON and glass panel (Scaler board), If so I reckon you have killed the TCOF IC on those flex ribbons that are connected to the glass. Say goodbye!
If you gently touch the TCOF IC and test for heat you might compare its heat to others on the panel. You might find out its getting hot which means its burnt. New panel replacement or to the rubbish bin it goes.

go ahead and carefully, no more shorting, test those little caps on the panel driver board for shorts or very low ohms, may be some other components like a diode pack to check.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

M1 A2338 screen and touchbar issues after cleaning up liquid damage
                      by jkruns
                      Hello everyone,

This is my first post after browsing this wonderful treasure trove of knowledge for many, many evenings. I've decided to learn how to fix these things, properly.

My patient is an A2338 Macbook Pro M1 (late 2020).

It had some corrosion around JT710 and JT700 caused by liquid spill, as well as against the protective barrier around the USB-C chips UF000 and UF100. So I took the main board out and cleaned it with a toothbrush and alcohol, then with alcohol in an ultrasonic cleaner. Cleaned the touchbar flex connectors as well. The board looks...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                      by smic717394
                      Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
                      by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...

Macbook A1466 820-00165A heavy water damage but working with "flashing" screen
                      by dbuergi
                      Hi all,

i got a A1466 with serious water damage. I was able to clean the whole board and only found a fuse with a coroded trace. Cleaning and resoldering did the job and the macbook started normal but after some time the screen began "flashing" like turning on and off while the Macbook was still running. I checked the board again but was not able to find the problem until now.
                      Any ideas where to look?...
