    Hitachi 50V525E - Yellow ring

Picked it up for free. Really nice unit and it even has an HDMI port but alas, there was a reason it was free...

There is that nasty yellow ring in the middle of the screen. I'm getting reports it's something ranging from dust to a cooked LCD.
Regardless, it's nasty and it would be soo much better to use this over my other TV with a case of the greens.
If it's too expensive, I'll move it outside to the curb as my roommates won't appreciate it.

Ooh! That would be awesome if I got a free replacement.
I'll poke arund Hitachi Canada and see if they come up with anything but if anyone knows the number, I would like to know it.

            Well fuck you too Hitachi.
No. the best I got from tech support was "well I hope you didn't pay too much for it" and the address of a repair shop which will fix it at full-cost.

The song is OK, it's the video that I think is excellent.

I blurted it out because its the video playing on the screen in the second screenshot you posted.

                    Oh. I see now.
Yeah, I called again and they are not helping at all (and I must say they are pretty rude when they conclude the issue with me). Looks like it's staying this way.

VOIP, ATA REN and old analog phones ring voltage booster
                      by CapLeaker
I am working on a backup phone to VHF paging solution. Basically I am dealing with the old Zetron pagers. Here is how it works: One calls a number, the Zetron picks up, operator punches in the DTMF access code, the Zetron keys the transmitter and you can talk. press # the Zetron unkeys the transmitter and hangs up / times out.
Now this setup works good on the old land lines, but not at all using a VOIP ATA. You can call all you want and swear like a bastard at the Zetron, but it will not (even if I threaten it's life) pick up.
Yep, I know about the high ring voltage...

The TV was stuck on the logo and I couldn't access the update menu.
I couldn't find the firmware for the Hitachi 32HAE2351 and updated it with the Toshiba 32WA2063DG - Vestel 17MB171 firmware.
The image result was good, but the image is inverted.
The image rotation/mirror function doesn't exist in the Menu Server. I can't correct the image.

                      Philips 37pfl560: Yellow picture
                      by madyoyo
                      HI.

I have a weird problem with an old Philips 37pfl560 TV i put out of storage: the picture have a noticeable yellow hue, and its not caused by the settings (did a factory reset). I've never seen this before. I will try to get a photo with a real camera, with my phone its hard to see because of automatic white balance, but in real live the whites are really yellow.

Anyone have an idea of what can cause this? Can CCFL tubes get "warmer" with time? This tv have several analog inputs,so its nice for retrogaming....

                      Mid/late 80's Nichicon Yellow Caps
                      by nick3092
I recently acquired a set of Bose Roomate speakers from the mid to late 80's. Basically the right speaker cabinet is completely passive, and the left one has the power transformer and amplifier circuit in it. Out of curiosity, I opened it up to see what the circuit looked like. Looks like they used all Nichicon VX (2x 4700uF/16v for smoothing off the bridge rectifier), a couple random Nichicon SE series sprinkled on the board, and what really caught my eye - 2 yellow sleeved Nichicon caps (both 1uF/50v with no real series marking. Below are pictures of the caps. The only thing not shown in these...
