    Vizio D50u-D1 - Worth repairing?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer but here goes: got a Vizio D50u-D1. I know the main board is bad. I can replace it with a used one for $50 or have it rebuilt for a few dollars more. I just wonder if it's worth it? Just seems to me that another board is going to eventually bake itself to death or the LEDs are going to burn out.

I'm thinking no. What do you think?

Go buy another TV. Maybe you can offer it on craigslist for someone interested in repairing them.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Everything is leaning towards scrapping it instead of repairing it. I don't need to repair it. Blah. I just hated throwing away stuff that can be fixed but what's the point if it's just going to die a natural death in a couple years.

If you would enjoy the experience of trying to repair it, I'd say go for it. I've recently been watching lots of NorthridgeFix repair videos on YouTube, and it's inspired me to take on some projects. I've already fixed a non-working GTX 1070 GPU just by fixing a broken 0-ohm resistor.

Sounds like he is trying to talk himself out of repairing it.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

              Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

              Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio M60-C3 multiple symptoms leading to death
              by ossroy
Initially, I had an issue last winter where, when the room was cold, the TV came on but continuosly scrolled through the inputs. Slapping the back of the lower left where the KB board and light are would solve things until the room warmed up and things worked fine.

Then recently it started coming "on" but no picture, just backlight. Turning it off and on again fixed things. Then it got worse, where I'd have to cycle power several times to get picture. Then I got the dimming light and sometimes flashing after dimming. Again, cycle power a few times and it would eventually...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
              by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
