  • Re: Vizio M60-C3 powers on, perfect logo, turns off

After a lot of research, I ended up reballing it with a qualiity heatgun and flux. To my surprise, it worked great! I already had the heat gun and the good flux cost me about 10 buck on Amazon. My kids are now back to playing Xbox on the 70 incher.

Vizio M60-C3 powers on, perfect logo, turns off. If you don't touch anything it will repeat this process by itself until it is unplugged. Not the "button board" since I disconnected the cables to the main board and the problem persisted. So I'm fairly positive something is going on with the main board, but want to know if there is a fix for this other than replacing the expensive mainboard, which may eventually have the same problem. Also, heat sink was hot as hell when this all started. Unplugged for a few days and same thing happens.

My kids are getting antsy waiting...

Thanks guys. Sure enough, on closer inspection those four caps were bulged. Just ordered a 20 pack from Amazon for $5.99 and they'll be in my mailbox day after tomorrow. Sweet!

  • Vizio M60-C3 multiple symptoms leading to death

Initially, I had an issue last winter where, when the room was cold, the TV came on but continuosly scrolled through the inputs. Slapping the back of the lower left where the KB board and light are would solve things until the room warmed up and things worked fine.

Then recently it started coming "on" but no picture, just backlight. Turning it off and on again fixed things. Then it got worse, where I'd have to cycle power several times to get picture. Then I got the dimming light and sometimes flashing after dimming. Again, cycle power a few times and it would eventually...

  • Re: Samsung un32eh5000f No backlight.

I calculated 18 ohms, had a 2W, 22 ohm resistor in my junk box, so I used that and the backlights lit up wonderfully. I was able to get the bad LED off with a heat gun. Now to put it all back together and hope I still have a picture. Thanks for your help.

I've never done any SMD work. I think I'll try my heat gun to slide it off and tack a resistor in it's place. The LED is in the upper right corner where it's loss will hardly be missed. The TV has already been replaced by a larger Smart TV and this one will now become a second monitor for my PC.

  • Re: Samsung un32eh5000f No backlight.

Had a chance to work on it Saturday for a while (I had my kids this weekend so I couldn't spend too much time away from them) and found something interesting after taking the panel apart. After the two LED strips were exposed, I disconnected main from power boards, plugged in power and lower bank lit dimly. Swapped top with bottom and BOTH strips lit dimly. The last LED in what was the upper strip did not light. I swapped them back and again they all lit dimly, except the last one of the top strip which is burnt out. I assumed when LEDs went...

Then how did the entire panel light up when I shorted pins 1 and 2?...

OK. Mainboard cable disconnected, then TV plugged in to wall. Through two of the holes in the upper center of the metal back of the screen, I can see some backlight shining through, but not through any of the many other holes except one in lower right corner. When I look at the front of the screen, it is all black. As far as voltages:

    Pin Label Voltage

    1 B13 13 VDC
    3 B13 13 VDC
    5 Vamp 13 VDC
    7 Vamp 13 VDC

I will have to try again tonight. I had other obligations last night and never got a chance to look at the TV, and now I'm second guessing myself on what all happened on Tuesday.

Now that's embarrassing! I used the formula for Peak and then wrote P-P. ...

I didn't have any skinny probe tips, so I just ordered a set from Amazon this morning.

As far as the No Voltage on pins 1-13 (odd), that was when the TV was plugged in but turned off. As shown above, I did have 13V on pins 1, 3, 5 and 7 when the TV was turned on. Or should have I have seen voltage there with the TV turned off as well?

I unhooked mainboard from power board while TV was powered down, and TV would not turn on in that condition. Should I have unhooked them while TV was powered on?

With TV plugged in, but OFF:

    Pins 1-13 (odd) No voltage

I didn't measure 2-14 because pins were inaccessible.

    With TV ON:

    3 B13 13 VDC
    5 Vamp 13 VDC

Hi, my name is Roy. Just found this site today and had to join. It seems well rounded and one of the rules is to use proper grammar, full sentences and punctuation! I love it just for that! I'm and old school ET with an Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology that I got back in 1986. Maybe I should change my username to "Legacy" My first electronics job was component level repair of rack-mount Time Division Multiplexers for voice, data and video.

I came here today looking for info on...

  • Re: Samsung un32eh5000f No backlight.

My Samsung UN32EH5000F is having a very similar problem. Rather than NO backlight, I have a very dim picture. I don't need to use a flashlight to see the picture, but can just see it in the ambient light of my bedroom, which is far from well lit. It does occasionally flicker, getting ever so slightly brighter or dimmer, but it is way too dim to be of any use. Adjusting the backlight setting has no effect. So I replaced the T-CON board after reading that it's a common problem with the backlight and it was only 12 bucks with shipping. Symptom...
