    Samsung un50eh5000fxza - no power, no red light.

    So I have a Samsung un50eh5000fxza, that all of a sudden stopped powering on. The TV worked great for years until then.

    I tried replacing the power board (BN44-00499A) and then the main board (BN94-05750k), but still no power.

    I'm getting the T-Conn board next & am going to replace that. Anything else I should attempt? Anything else I should look at?

    Pictures included of the old & replaced part (T-Conn hasn't been changed yet.)

    If you unplug the mainboard from the power supply and power up do the backlights come on.
    Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      Try dick_barton's suggestion first. If you don't get backlights:

      1) Unplug the TV and wait 30min. for all capacitors to discharge.
      2) Plug all items back in to their boards EXCEPT the backlight connector upon the power supply, leave it detached.
      3) While observing the stand-by light, plug the TV in to the wall and answer this question:

      Did the stand-by light turn on or flash momentarily? If it turned on then press the power button and look to see if the stand-by light starts flashing. If it does, or if it flashed momentarily upon plug in do the flashlight test upon the screen to see if a picture is present. If an image is present upon the screen the backlights are severely short.

      When you plug this model in to the wall the Power Supply sends a pulse of current to the backlights to check their condition. If they are severely short there's a safety on the Power Supply that will prevent the Power Supply from powering up. In this condition there will be the appearance of no power and no stand-by light. This could lead to misdiagnosing the Power Supply is defective.

      Taking the severely short backlights out of the equation by detaching their connector from the Power Supply will not trip the safety and allow the TV to power up without backlights. If the screen is good an image should be present and should be visible with a bright flashlight shone upon the screen.

      Also, check the lower right and left corner of the screen to see if it is chipped or cracked behind the bezel. The 50" EH, H and J model Samsung's are notorious for having too small of screen supports on the corners, often leading to a cracked screen you can't see until the bezel is removed. This won't keep the TV from powering up but should be checked before buying parts.

      Hope this helps.

        YES!

        It seems the next suggestion is if the backlights don't come on. Now that they've come on, what should I try next?

            FWIW - I plugged the original power supply to the backlights & tried the same test & that turned on as well. So I'm guessing it didn't need to be replaced.

            Also I recorded a video of what I'm seeing, if this helps:

              Can I ask a dumb question - does the part # need to be exactly the same? For instance this main board that came with my tv is BN94-05750K. But when I google either that # or the tv model UN50EH5300FXZA, I get multiple numbers:
              * BN97-06298N
              * BN41-01812A
              * BN94-07162W
              * BN94-06692L
              etc.

              Does it matter which one I get, or should I stay with the BN94-05750K?

                one is the part #, the other is the blank board #. Look on the tv label and you'll see the model #of the tv and also a version #, Match one of the previous numbers with the correct version #number.

                  Thanks. I've ordered a(nother) main board. Will test out & report back.

                    Ok so ordering a working main board & replacing that worked!

                    It was the only part needed, and the first replacement I got didn't work.

                      If you want your backlights to last, turn them down to 8-10 and turn off eco sensor. Lots of backlight failures on E model years from running at max.

                        you can bake the board and it'll start working again
