    SAMSUNG UN60D-removing LED panel

Hello, I am repairing a 60 inch Samsung. I have removed the bezel and aluminum frame that goes around the perimeter of the LED panel. I have suction cups. I can not remove the panel its stuck. I have removed panels several times before and they just lift out. Any one have any advice?

    Thanks

It may be glued down however I have done this tv before and it was not. Check the sides of the panel just below where you removed the bezel. Sometimes they put a piece of tape on the sides and wrap it to the side of the tv. Be careful of the panel tabs also. The board is in 4 pieces and easily broken.

      Re: SAMSUNG UN60D-removing LED panel

I just did the Samsung UN60D6000SF and it was very stressful. What had happened was on all four sides the thin rubber strips that support the panel and should only have adhesive on one side only stuck to both the panel and the panel supports. I had to use a thin piece of mylar to break it free. The top and the sides were not too bad - carefully hold the COF up on the sides when you do that in case you get a sudden release.

As for the bottom it was the worst as the buffer boards had to be rolled back and then very carefully work the mylar shim up underneath the panel. Some of the issue is in places the rubber strips were stuck better to the panel than to the panel support and would want to bunch up.

Oh, and don't try lifting with the bottom support unfastened thinking you can just take care of it once the panel is out. The diffusor sheets are attached to it making that method impossible.

And another caution if it is the same age as the one I did the side plastic panel supports were very brittle, and one literally crumbled at the top. Perhaps it is because the LED's are on the side and they are exposed to a lot of heat. Anyway, just be extra careful with them.

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
          by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

          tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
          by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions
          by KYBOSH
I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...

          Samsung GU50TU8079U bad panel diagnosis
          by Ierwin
          Hello,

I was given this Samsung GU50TU8079U that would power cycle after a couple seconds, sometimes a few minutes. The screen would turned cloudy dark with the backlight still lit and then the sytem would restart.
Its one of the newer screwless Samsung models that I read a lot about panel failures here. It does not have a sperate T-CON board, just one ribon from the mainboard to the panel board and a U-shaped ribbon cable connecting the other half.
I went through the usual diagnostics:
unplugged the mainboard -> tv stayed on
          removed the U-Shape robbon ->...
