    LG Television - 42LG50-UA

    Hi Everyone,

Trying to diagnose a TV that does not power on. The crystal clocking the main application processor looks suspect to me, I have attached a pic of what my scope is detecting on the crystal pins.

This should be a 54mhz device, but obviously isn't running properly.

Before I order a replacement part, is there anything else I should check that might be causing this erratic clock signal?

    Thanks

If you have already checked that all the voltages at the source and they are fine also if you checked all the voltages of the dc-dc converters and voltage regulators of the main motherboard and they are fine then yes

Using the oscilloscope to measure the crystal I much doubt would work since the scope probe capacitance and impedance will load the crystal.
You could look to see if any of the pins of the IC are clocking a decent waveform.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

        Hello friends,

Its been a while, i wish you an happy new year 2025 !

I have this laptop doesn't start, power light up a second when pluging USB-C charger.
        Laptop take 0.11A.

I get no oscilation on XTAL 32.768 KHZ
Battery is not charging but charging led is here.
PCH heat at 30° approximatively. (with no heatsink)

I think this crystal might be dead, i have only boardview giving me this: XTAL 32.768KHZ 12.5PF/20PPM.
        It's a 2 pins Crystal.

Measuring crystal oscillators with scope ?
        by Dannyx
Good day folks. Today I had another (playful ?) argument with my stubborn co-worker about crystal oscillators - you know, those metal cans. Is it possible to measure these with a scope to see if they output a waveform ? What is the correct way to hook up the probes ?

It all started when he upheld the idea that a stereo CD/tape deck system doesn't display anything on its VFD because of a bad crystal oscillator. Now I personally haven't worked with these x-tals extensively because there was nothing much I could've done to them, plus I rarely encountered one failing and as such don't...

        HI,

I'm looking to replace the 27MHz crystal on this board as it isn't generating the signal. I thought it would be easy to identify a suitable replacement as there are clear markings on the crystal, but it appears I was wrong as Google gives nothing. Bad photo attached, but it has X27.0000 and 16AP1 on the casing. It appears to be a 3225 package, but looking through suppliers there are lots of different things like capacitance, tolerance, active or passive, etc. that need to be considered. Could anyone help identify a suitable replacement please?

        Thanks....

Reading input and output of bridge rectifier on the same scope?
        by EasyGoing1
I have a 40 volt AC transformer that I put a bridge rectifier on, and I wanted to see the input signal and the output signal on the same screen on my scope, so I set one channel up with the test lead on one side of the input and the ground lead on the other side of the input, then I used another channel on the scope and clipped the test lead on the positive side of the output then the ground on the negative side of the output.

When I connected the transformer to power, the wire that was connected between the ground lead on the second channel and the negative side of the bridge rectifier...
