Tested power supply output getting 12 volts with no main board. Tested with main board 12 volt output is dipping appears that power supplies restarting. Hooked external load directly to 12 volt and it's doing the same thing. Suggestions?

Try heating the electrolytic capacitors on the powerboard with a hairdryer, see if the voltages stabilize if only for a bit.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-28-2021, 01:53 PM.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. What load did you put on the 12V supply line. It says maximum 3 Amp. Does the 14V supply line also drop in line with the 12V ?Attached FilesLast edited by dick_barton; 02-28-2021, 01:54 PM.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Insignia ns-55d420a16. Blinking red light no backlight
Unfortunately no change. 12v drops to 3v then cycles between 0 and 3v. Remove all but main filter caps and tested esr, they are all low, but i believe .02 is within spec for a 25v 1000Uf low esr cap.Comment

Re: Insignia ns-55d420a16. Blinking red light no backlight
The board silkscreen showed 16v not 14, and its didn't match up with the connector so i assumed it was incorrect. I'm not getting any other voltage other than the 12 with or without the mainboard plugged in.Comment

Re: Insignia ns-55d420a16. Blinking red light no backlight
Look the solder joints over on the powerboard real closely, see if you have any bad/cold joints. As always be VERY CAREFUL when dealing with the DEADLY/HOT side of the board.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-28-2021, 04:56 PM.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Also check over the diodes and resistors if you haven't already.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Re: Insignia ns-55d420a16. Blinking red light no backlight
If your power supply matches the schematic then if the 12V is running so should the 14V (16V) because they are both derived from the same transformer T831
If that supply is missing then you need to double check all the components in that area.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

I have the above tv that just shows a red light blinking twice 5 times, i have taken the back off and all the capacitors seem ok,
When i disconnect the mainboard from the PSU all the led's light up blinking fast but as soon as i reconnect the mainboard back to the power supply i get the red light blinking again twice 5 times,
I have attached pictures of the Mainboard, PSU and a small video (zipped) showing what happens when i disconnect the lead from the psu
Any help would be appreciated... -
by roy.zheroI acquired a free 50” TV. IT is a Sharp LC50LE752E. It does not show a picture and has no backlight, although the indicator light turns blue meaning it has turned on.
When power is plugged in, the indicator light will turn on blue, the backlight stays off and nothing is visible, even with a flashlight. When pressing the touch buttons on the tv nothing happens. When pressing buttons on the remote control the indicator light will blink indicating the IRsignal was received, but nothing happens.
When I hold the force-on-combination it will turn on. It then shows a perfect... -
by cajoegHello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.
The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV... -
