Philips 50PUS6162/05 Vertical Lines - Likely the T-Con...

Hi all, back again after a few years!

My Philips 50PUS6162/05 last night developed a fault out of the blue where sound was still playing, but the display was just displaying vertical stripes/lines of varying colours.

Being no stranger to this sort of issue, I'm assuming that it's something as minor as a loose ribbon connection to the T-Con, or a replacement/repair.

I believe, based on preliminary checks online, that the T-Con in question is a 55T32-C0F.

What I would like to know is, say I do need to replace, and see one online with the same model code as above, but is listed for a different brand (Toshiba, Vizio, Hisense, etc), will it still work with my TV, or does it need to be specific? Apologies if the question's a bit dense - it's been a few years since I've needed to carry out a fix of this nature so am a little rusty.

    Regards,

    Matt

To clarify further, I see countless models online of 55T32-C0F, but the white sticker attached appears to have different information (starts with UZ-5550T32C10).

Do the details on the white stickers need to match exactly, or is the model number enough?

ive been wondering the same myself on a different tcon in a different set. what i dont know is if the tcon boards are PROGRAMMED differently that MIGHT be the difference. in my case a google search came up empty. soooo i rolled the dice and opened my wallet. now i get to wait a month to find out. given my lack of success guessing on 50-50 odds possibilities in evil soduko puzzles i am not hopeful

This is the problem I'm facing at the moment.

From what I've seen, it looks like the model number (first batch of numbers on the white sticker) is important.

When I checked 5550T32C10 on shopjimmy, it did advise that model 5550T32C11 is one that potentially works also.

it would seem that the manufacturers go to great lengths to achieve low to zero interchangeability in seemingly, totally interchangeable, in appearance, boards

it drives a man nuts i swear! to know the meaning and purpose of all the numbers would be useful, but those that know arent talking.

Can't post photo now as have taken T-Con out in anticipation of replacing it, and also at work.

Could hear sound perfectly fine, and when pressing buttons on remote to bring up menu, Netflix, etc, the colour of the lines would change and fade in/out accordingly.

you are fast judgment on the t-con.. while main boards BGA issue on main ic produce same issue you just wrote.

                  EDIT:
BTW there are ribbon disconnection test to be sure you got blank half white screen.. to terminated that issue not located at panel.

Not my first rodeo; I was probably too quick jumping to that conclusion, but given T-Cons are cheaper than main boards, and it being the week before Christmas, I'd rather eliminate that as a cause before looking at the main board.

However, I wasn't aware of that, thanks for pointing that out.

[EDIT] I'll try the ribbon test when I've some free time this week, thanks again.

Still would like to know how interchangeable T-Con boards are however, should it come to that.

I've put the T-con back in and tested with one ribbon disconnected at a time; each time shows one half a white screen, the other black.

If I plug them both back in I either get black screen or white stripe about 10cm wide going down the centre of the screen.

                      Any suggestions would be welcome!
