    LG 60LA7408 vertical lines

    Hello!

Next week I would have the opportunity to pick up an LG 60LA7408 TV for $60.

It produces the symptoms in the attachments.

What would you say? Does it seem like a "simple" VGL/VGH problem, that could be fixed with jumpering, and bypassing a tab?

Or does it seem to be more problematic for you?

I have never fixed something like this before, but I am willing to learn and experiement, but if it looks unfixable for you, I wouldn't buy it for nothing.

I saw something similiar on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khS6q_wNJZ8

Vertical lines are almost always panel issues with the TAB bonds, COF on the flexes, or the circuitry on the panel boards. Not repairable.

Try disconnecting half the screen. Turn your TV off and remove power. Then remove 1 of the ribbons between the T-con and the panel. Then power it on and see what happens. If the connected half now displays properly, then that means there is a fault with the half that was just disconnected and we can trouble shoot from there. If you still get lines on screen, then unplug the set and reconnect the disconnected ribbon. Now repeat with the other ribbon. If the screen shows properly on the connected half then once again the disconnected half is the culprit and we can diagnose from there.
If however the screen still displays lines then your T-con or main board may be the cause of the problem.
As neilc6 stated, this is most likely a panel issue, however there is a chance we can still fix it and or do a work around to allow the set to work.

By any chance that the tab bonding boards are located at the bottom edge of the screen?

Well, after the answer of neilc6, I decided I'm not going to buy it. So I can't really give any answers.

The problem is, that even if I could fix it, the courier company that this online shop page uses, broke 2 of my last TV orders, which completely ruined my mood about buying TVs for the next few weeks..

I would only PLAY with this tv if it was free. Most likely a experiment tab bond issue !

              Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

              Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

              Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
              by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Vertical Lines on Half of LCD Display
              by rfxcasey
I have an Siemens HMI with vertical lines on half of the screen. These lines aren't scrambled garbage but rather very regular in pattern and color. I have replaced the LCD with a new one and still the problem persists. I'm wondering if this isn't indicative of a bad video process chip or video memory? Any help would be appreciated. The cable appears to be OK but one pin on the header is unpopulated, though there isn't any loose wire to suggest one broke off or popped out of the connector. In the picture below where the connector is busted out of the side, I did that with my small screw driver...

LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE - Vertical Lines on Half of The Screen?
              by ItalianSat
              Hello Everybody,

I have a 40 inch LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE. Its problem is that there are Vertical Lines on Right Half of The Screen.

Interestingly enough, when I move my mouse (in the case if connected to a PC) or when I am watching the TV, lines also move. At first appearance, I had thought that the problem might arose from loose vertical ribbons (COF), but when I opened up the TV for further investigations, I realized that the problem cannot be solved by touching them.

Moreover, I detached the T-CON board for a new round of investigation. I personally...

              Sony KDL-40V3000 - Vertical lines
              by gpo23
              Hello,

              i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

              Thank you for your help
