LG OLED65C8PUA Network Issue After Main Board Replacement

I've listed the specific model here but I assume this may / probably applies to most newer LG Smart TVs. Also, I apologize for not having pictures but the TV is back up on the wall at a customers house and I'm trying to avoid moving it again.

Ok. Here's the scenario. TV took a surge from lightning and damaged the main board. I ordered a new one and installed it. TV powered right up and displayed 'factory mode' on the screen. I've seen this before so I grabbed my trusty LG service remote and a quick press of the IN START button had me at the factory set up screen. I wanted to let the customer perform the setup at his house so I called him to retrieve it. Typically, I would check inputs and various things but my assumption was that the TV was all set.

Later that day, the customer calls to let me know the TV won't connect to the internet. After some basic troubleshooting I went over there armed with a USB stick, current software, and a few instructions.

Updating the firmware did nothing. Factory reset did nothing. TV shows no WIFI networks when scanning and although it detects an ethernet cable, no IP address is obtained.

Using the service remote, I looked at a bunch of setting and noticed that the model number was a bunch of random characters. I entered the correct one and saved the info but to no avail on the network problem. Tried the software reset and update again after that to but still no help.

I suspect maybe the WIFI module but the ethernet won't connect either. If anyone has had a similar experience and could help I would be forever grateful. Spent hours already trying to remedy the problem. I feel like the fact that this was a brand new board with no pre-installed model specific firmware may have something to do with it but who knows?

I did find some articles about a file named LG_SVC_DTV and updating the service code with it but I cannot find the file or know if that would make any difference.

if the replacement boards was blank or used one, the first things need to adjust the value at IN_START. this why it show you the page at first start.. because WiFi-MAC didn't match the module.

so log again at IN_START and be sure of WiFi-MAC listed and should be the same as the module which it printed on it with label

MAC Address also should be listed.... this no need to change it as its already build in MB

WiFi speed should be USB 2.0

ESN No write back as the label of the TV

    Model Name

    serial Number

all change when done exit IN_START and send IN_STOP

Ok. I do recall the WIFI address being blank. I wish I'd taken a picture of the service screens now. I'll have the TV back in hand next week and can send updates as I work on it.

Now, WIFI aside; shouldn't the ethernet port work regardless or does it also require a settings adjustment. The TV detects that a cable is plugged in but it does not acquire an IP address.

this setting you know the set had it at network setting. & the Wi-FI are part of it to switch the connection between LAN or WLAN. if WLAN corrupted and not listed... the whole Network setting will be corrupted. this why the set blind now at network.

Ok. So, I have this resolved. The TV was a lightning strike victim which is why I was changing the main board in the first place. Apparently, the WLAN module was also damaged in the process. I assume it must have had a short and that somehow it was loading down the whole network portion of the board. Once unplugged, the ethernet port connected immediately. I have now replaced the module with an identical one out of an LG LCD TV from the same year and everything is back in order.

Thanks to Diah on the advice regardless. So glad to have this resolved after hours of tinkering.

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
            by Asraf Atb
            Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

75pfl5604/f7 Main board replacement RGB issue
            by EazyBone
Hey y'all, got a 75pfl5604/f7 that was DOA and I diagnosed this to be a main board issue. There was no indicator light, etc etc.

Ordered a new one (maybe used) from torres TV parts and installed it. Now the screen cycles the RGB colors only. Hit power and that's only thing that happens. Which is good/bad because it shows the panel/PSU/tcon are running well lol.

Anyone know what the deal is and how to get it out of this loop??...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
            by ezenia
            Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

Samsung UE48JU7000 screen issue after backlight replacement
            by ScHAmPi
            Hi all,

Because of two bright spots and a couple of dark spots I decided to replace the backlights in my Samsung UE48JU7000. See attached photos:

I thought all went well, but after full assembly and testing it out it turns out not all is fine. The backlights are completely fine but I have some weird issues on the right half of the screen. Since I didn't really touch the T-CON board (apart from taking out the ribbons of the display and reconnecting them on assembly) it would be weird that the issue is with the T-CON board... But based on the behavior of the service...
