Vizio, Powers off while on/sometimes doesn't power on

    Model: D65U-D2

Got it for free, I started to play with the settings after opening my door to get some fresh air and it powered down twice on me after turning on the calibrated setting and turning on auto high brightness adjustment and black level adjustment settings.

Sometimes it doesn't power on, when the tv shuts down while I'm using it it doesn't want to start but eventually will on the second time. I blew out the back of the TV with some air duster and that seemed to help some, but unsure as to what's wrong. The temperature difference outside and inside was a few degrees when I opened the door, but I live in a pretty humid area.

I think the settings I changed increased the brightness and I turned on the high black detail and game low latency. I'm also on the 60Hz hdmi connection.

Any advice? It's always done this pretty much on and off. As I'm playing with the backlight settings going from 95 to around 75 the tv seems to shut down. On Low backlight seems fine.

If the tv stays ON with the backlights lowered, it is a good chance you have a bad led in the backlight string, it only takes one.

May be one or more bad capacitors on the powerboard, just had similar symptoms with one of my old tvs, 5 bad caps that were obviously bad but sometimes they look good but can be bad, seems like the startup caps are the ones that like to crap out first, just a possibility.

Guess I missed your last sentence, "On Low backlight seems fine" yes that's a pretty good indicator of bad/weak backlight/s.

I replaced the backlights all good. Two months later set was dead, had a shorted D9100, replaced all good again.
Now months later set powers up,backlights light ok,no picture. 12volts missing from fuse on tcon. 12VA on power
supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
issue. Set will power up with remote but not power off....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
          by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....

Vizio E320-A1 Powers on But No Display
          by npolite
          Hi All,

I have a Vizio E320-A1 which lost sound and picture. The power LED comes on and stays on but nothing else works. I am not able to power it off unless I unplug it.

Here are the voltages when the power is on

          1 - 5.25
          2 - 5.25
          3 - 0
          4 - 4.8
          5 - 25
          6 - 25
          7 - 0
          8 - 0
          9 - 0
          10 - 12
          11 - 12
          12 - .9
          13 - .5

Can someone let me know if the issue is with the mainboard?

          Thanks...

Vizio M60-C3 powers on, perfect logo, turns off
          by ossroy
Vizio M60-C3 powers on, perfect logo, turns off. If you don't touch anything it will repeat this process by itself until it is unplugged. Not the "button board" since I disconnected the cables to the main board and the problem persisted. So I'm fairly positive something is going on with the main board, but want to know if there is a fix for this other than replacing the expensive mainboard, which may eventually have the same problem. Also, heat sink was hot as hell when this all started. Unplugged for a few days and same thing happens.

My kids are getting antsy waiting...
