    Panasoniv TH-P42XT50M HDMI doesn't work

    Hi guys,

I have this Panasonic TV, it's working fine through RCA cables and only the HDMI doesn't.

I want to try and fix it by replacing the right component instead of replacing the entire board.

The small IC in between the 2 HDMI ports is: 24C32f
The big IC to the right is: AN34044AA

Please help me pinpoint the culprit.
    Thanks in advance.

I'd guess it's the chip that handles the HDMI inputs which will be above them under the silver heatsink.

Could the problem be just updating the firmware?

It's unlikely but it costs nothing to try.
You could also try applying some heat from a hair dryer on high to that processor for about a minute before applying power and seeing if HDMI works, I suspect it's been shorted (dead) but there is a chance there's some cracking of the BGA underneath it.

How do I test it for shortage?

That's the main IC for image and sound processing. You need dedicated equipment to refit it once removed, so don't try and take it off.

                    What stuff do you have?
If not the correct one, better don't try yourself if you want to salvage it.
Surely if it's the "first time you see an elevated IC..."

And nevertheless, with the proper guidance I can do it, I just need to see it once how it should be done.
I have a hot air gun, solder paste, flux etc.

If you can heat the whole board to around 100c and you have a decent hot air station you have a chance you can reflown it without damage. If you just try and heat the processor with your hot air to the point the solder ball underneath melt 217c and the rest of the board is cold then there is a big chance of damage due to the extremes of temperature.

Before you do that though see if applying some heat to the processor for around 30 seconds before applying power has any effect.

@buchman Only seeing it and going for it is risky. Better practice bga reflows/reballs on scrap boards first.

Reflow mostly works only temporarily, often only for a short time. Can be a hit or miss. Reballing it should be a longer term solution.
If you've never done that or don't have the tools for it you can of course try a reflow. Luckily it's a low mass chip, more chance it might work if the pcb doesn't suck away all the heat.
But as diff said, be careful or you can toast the chip.

What hot air station you have?

The picture shows what should be done.

Hi, ill try to keep this short. I got my hands on a PS4 with a mangled HDMI port and assumed that it would be an easy fix. before the replacement it booted up fine (white light) however after replacing the port it booted up fine for 2 times and then after plugging in an HDMI cable and turning on the console to check whether it had video out it never booted again, even after unplugging the cable. now it gets stuck on the blue flashing light and after 25-40 seconds it pops out the disk (if one is inserted) and shuts itself off. Upon investigating i found that the capacitors near the HDMI port are...

Hi all I have 2 Samsung LF22T350FHRXEN, working in a dual screen setup. Out of the blue one of them now wont display full resolution trough HDMI port, Either get out of range message or it will be stuck at 1024x768px. Tried reseting the screen, tested different HDMI Cables but with no luck.

I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

                                  Connection as below:
                                  Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
                                  3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

                                  I replaced all...
