Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
I have yet to come across an OLED but won't that clear itself up after a few power cycles ? I remember freakafter8 had something similar happen to an OLED he was working on and the problem vanished without him doing anything iirc.

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
Good news and unfortunately bad news, today I replaced the TCON board with a refurbished one, the picture now is almost everywhere lit at high "OLED light" settings (Standard value is 60), but at normal viewing light (set 10-30) the screen shows a very strange behaviour! In the upper left corner, I see something strange, an "a" that in my opinion is a part of a TV emblem. The rest of the image especially at the bottom is faded out a lot.
Just to clarify, this TV was never used with TV sources, only for BD movies and streaming service like Netflix, so TV emblems are really unlikely to be there...
Correct me if I'm wrong, it seems the used TCON is retaining the picture of the old TV from where it was taken. Is that possible?!?
Please kindly see the pictures below, I already did a factory reset and then a IN_STOP to reset the TV, but with no change.
Thank you!Last edited by maxino; 05-04-2020, 12:50 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
at your case your OLED panel didn't have short at all.. as you don't face shut down by Panel SOS signal.
i suggest you read this post and do the test carefully then post yours screen photo.
edit: one things more if you suspect the adrino Raspberry its could be reason too.. sending "INSTOP" command to the TV could solve any problem related to input and resolution too.
So I downloaded the SMPS testing procedure since was mentioned in the original post, but I have a lot to study at this point, believe me I'm little scared but I'll do my best to figure out what to do. I'll post an update ASAP.
PS: about the Raspberry... I tried to send IN_STOP but it doesn't work at all (or maybe there is a dialog box I can't see). Have I to send it when the set is ON or in Stand-by? (The file POWER_ONLY.wav works) Does the reset button on Main Board button do the same? Because I did the reset to let the TV turns on after the ribbon cable disconnection attempt.Last edited by maxino; 04-26-2020, 08:34 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
At this point I just ordered a new TCON board on ebay, but I'm almost convinced it's a Main Board problem.
I just remember I disconnected a Raspberry Pi 3 before the problem appeared, without turning off the set... can be the disconnection of the RPi caused some components burning on the Main Board?.

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
sorry I wasn't looking at the picture right... :-(
Anyway, you might try doing a few voltage checks at tcon and at the edge board at the bottom of the set... if there is some labelling on the boards to provide some guidance to those points. From some past oled posts, it is unlikely that you will get any picture if you disconnect the tcon to panel cables as there is some circuitry / system that shuts the set down when in this condition (equivalent to bad panel). You might search for some posts from freakaftr8 where he had an oled with panel damage and another with potential board issues...he was able to work thru getting one set working.
Your picture appears to indicate a lack of signal getting thru to the panel (ie. open circuit) or no voltage.
PS... I just missed your previous post but it looks like you are heading towards a replacement tcon... hope it works out.Last edited by budwich; 04-26-2020, 07:06 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
So I tried to remove ribbon cables in this order:
1 - the both on the left (turns on , white line on the left, growing-descending from the top of the screen for about 2 seconds, but also below the level normally the panel is not illuminated properly (!?!) The rest of the panel is faintly lit everywhere, then TV turns off by itself)
2 - only the first ribbon, same as above, but the growing white line take all the screen width, 2 sec, then turns off.
3 - only the second ribbon same as 2
4 - only the third ribbon same as 2-3
After that it can't be able to turn on the set anymore, so I pressed the reset button on the Main board, the TV works as before, the air mouse pointer moves. So no improvement for now

https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...hlight=lg+oled
- since the last pictures in my opinion is not a picture of the panel, I glimpse something at the bottom like a metal frame
- moreover, the lines are moving fast on my set, and they are part of the current picture, so strange behaviorLast edited by maxino; 04-26-2020, 01:00 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
OLED tvs seem to have lots of panel problems, seems like the technology as it progresses is getting more unreliable. What I see, CRT tv very reliable but not the greatest picture quality, then going downhill in order lcd not too bad, led constant backlight problems mostly, oled great picture quality but panel and constant picture issues banding artifacting etc. Left out plasmas, the first plasmas I came across had 3 or 4 very noisy fans so never was interested in owning one.Last edited by nomoresonys; 04-25-2020, 03:10 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
Maybe try the disconnect one or two ribbon cables from the tcon to panel test, one side at a time and see if you get half a proper display(always disconnect and reconnect cables with tv unplugged from power)Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
this thread might be somewhat "equivalent" if you look at his last picture of what the panel is doing... almost the same kind of "linings" but in reverse video (ie. white background). Poster indicates a shorted panel. :-(Leave a comment:

Good point, I'll try to enter the Service menu again, but I'm not sure I can blindly reach this option with the screen in these conditions.Leave a comment:

Ok, looks good, must be some other issue. Don't know unless a factory reset or firmware update may have reset it??Last edited by nomoresonys; 04-24-2020, 08:45 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
Yes, I disabled it using a IR led connected to a 2.5mm jack, then played a special wav sound with a laptop with the TV off, and the Service Menu appeared. Then disabled the TCP, I'm sure I archived a picture of the screen somewhere.... trying to find it.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
As far as I Know, TCP has to be disabled in the service menu, is that where you disabled it from?Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
thank you, if TCP = ASBL (so it means the display auto dim after 60 sec of inactivity right?) it was already turned off years ago during a calibration session.Leave a comment:

Most don't have a service remote, there's an andriod app that can get in, if you can get in go to OLED>TCP Enable set it to 0 and exit.Leave a comment:

Re: LG OLED 55EC930V Horizontal flashing lines problems
yes, the power cord is the only thing connected
I made a IR - wav cable in the past to disable the screen dimming during calibration, so I could eventually try to access the service menu.Last edited by maxino; 04-24-2020, 07:14 AM.Leave a comment:

by VilliagerI am in the jungle visiting family and I always try to fix all their electronics while I am here
A few years ago I gave a family a TCL LED55P65US tv, and now i am back and it is having some issues.
There are constant, shifting horrizontal lines across the screen and the screen flashes every 1.5 seconds or so, as seen in the attached gif.
Ive been through a few troubleshooting steps and no luck so far.
Does this seem like a possible T-Con board issue or does this seem unrepairable? The tv has been in a high heat and high humidity area, and the...1 Photo04-02-2024, 01:36 AM -
by IhandyrepairHi guys
I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.
never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the... -
by ggil44Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

by noisykid5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

by x_orange90_xI just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.
I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying... - Loading...
