Insignia 42" LCD TV Blue Screen with Sound

    Hello all,

Trying to troubleshoot a problem with my Insignia 42" LCD TV, model #: NS-42E760A12 Rev B. When I turn it on, the screen is blue. The menu and input selection does not show on the screen. When I connected a PS4 device, I could hear sound and occasionally got a partial image (got lucky as the last input setting before it "blue screened" was on the HDMI port I used for the PS4). The partial image (when it shows) is on the right side of screen when facing the TV.

Would this be a T Con Board issue, Main Video Board issue, or something else? Powers up fine so wouldn't think it's a Power Board issue. This is my first time trying a DIY fix for a TV and none of the youtube videos out there seem to cover my specific issue. Thanks!

How about using other video sources for other HDMI inputs, do you get the same result?

      Bud,

Thanks for replying. I tried cable TV on HDMI and only got blue screen and sound. No partial image this time. Looked like some minor fluctuation to a lighter blue on the right side but not noticeable in the photo. Attached are photos of the blue screen and a photo of the back of the TV with the cover off.

      Happy New Year!

Adding more information. I would only be able to fix this at the "board level" (replace the entire board). I don't have the equipment or knowledge to fix at the component level.

Do you have at least Volt meter to check and see if you do have 12 VDC at both ends for the fuse on the T-CON board with ref to the chassis ground when TV is turned on?
What do you see on the screen if you only have the ribbon cables between T-CON and the LCD panel connected one at time? Be real careful on these ribbon cables, they can be damaged easily, also make sure to seat them back in place properly.

It's a speculation but there's some tcons on that page, match up the 9 numbers on your white sticker there's 2 letters followed by the 9 numbers that you want to match up: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...acat=0&_sop=15

I do have a voltmeter and will check this weekend, along with the ribbon cable check. Thanks.

Bud, I see 12 VDC on both ends of the fuse on the T-Con board.

For the ribbon cable test my results follow:

Looking at the back of the TV, disconnected the left ribbon cable on the T-Con board. Result was the screen was a dark blue with no image (same as the original photo I attached to an earlier comment). When I only disconnected the right ribbon cable, the right half of the screen (when looking at the TV monitor) was normal and had an image! I pressed the menu button and was able to see half the menu screen. When I closed the menu, I saw half of the “No Signal” message. The left side of the monitor was the same dark blue with no image. I plugged both ribbon cables back in and it returned to the same blue screen problem on the entire monitor.

You have panel issue, more likely shorted SMD cap/s on the tab bonding board (the boards between LCD panel and the T-CON board).
You will have to remove the LCD metal frame to get access to the tab bonding boards so you can start checking the RESISTANCE of the SMD caps on the tab bonding boards.
You will also need to know how to do SMD repair works.

All, thanks for the help. I couldn't get to the tab bonding boards and would have had to change caps, and I don't have the equipment for that. Hopefully, the sanitation company recycles these items. Will try again with a 55" Sony I have that doesn't work. Hopefully, it will be a board-level replace & fix. We'll see.

Samsung TU8000, backlight and sound on, stuck in blue screen
                        by mar1in
                        Hi everyone,

I've got this Samsung here that would be stuck in a boot loop.
After opening up and doing the tape block method, I was able to get it to turn on and play sound from the HDMI input, but with a blue screen.

Does that mean there is another combination of pins that I need to block in order to get a picture, or is there something more serious, faulty mainboard or faulty panel?

                        Thanks in advance

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                        Hello Everyone,

This is my first post so I will try to be as precise as possible without making this post too long winded. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original problem but I included images of the TV internals.

I have a Sharp 70LE660U. The problem started a few months ago with the bottom row looking out of sync and was dark on the left side and then fading to transparent on the right side. Shortly after, a dark cloud appeared in the center of the screen. The dark cloud started small and shaded but the image was visible. It also affected the menu area....

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                        by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and
