    Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901

New here so I may need a tiny bit of help posting correctly. I too have the same problem in a Vizio tv set and will need the common repair parts. I can get back to anyone who suggests test results for components in this PS board. My Tv is also dead with a chip blown out of the same I C. It seems to be a common problem and I wonder if it is worth fixing or not. Anyone with spare parts please feel free to message me. Can't contact Digital Dad because i get a message that his message area is full and needs to be cleared out so that messages will go through.

Regarding the IC901 I have three of them, let me know if you need one.

So, after replacing the IC and the ZDiode, did the TV work? Or did you have to replace other components?

Did you ever fix this problem, I have the IC901 blown. No standby power. I got a replacement board 001(my board is 002). Unfortunately after swapping the replacement board no power either.

I guess my inbox is too full with 30 messages? I didn't think they had a limit.

I have all three of the parts you listed, shoot me an offer.

Yes, I still have a few. Try and PM me again I will keep my eye on it, if I don't reply pretty quickly just come back here and post. We will work it out.

What would be a good replacement for the r915 resistor?

The markings on the resistor are F1/2J 4.7OHMS FU412 and its made by futaba.

    Will this work?

The package was delayed a day and arrived about an hour ago. I went ahead and soldered the new SB2100 schottky diode D950b into place. I then cleaned it up with alcohol.

It came on! It appears to be working again!

So to recap I had to replace the IC chip at IC901, a Zener diode ZD901 and a Schottky diode at D950b. I also had to resolve the CN202 plug the hard plugs into the smaller green driver board. The part numbers and other things to test are all in this thread. I hope that this can help someone fix their TV.

Thank you jetadm123, R_J & budm! I literally couldn't have done it with out you!

EDIT: I now have a single horizontal line near the top of the tv, about 4" from the top, from side to side all the way across.

As for the sb2100 rectifier diode, there is no problem increasing the current and voltage, but as you found out the size can also increase. I would have just used the other holes without the standoffs.
I was going to use the other holes and cancel my order but apparently I was 3 minutes too slow. The representative said there was nothing they could do once the order had shipped. I had only placed the order only 45 mins before that. It cost me another $8.79.

So is the correct Schottky diode for this board really a 2A? and not a 3A. Because the size difference sure seems to point in that direction.

I did go ahead and solder the Zener, the IC and the loose plug since I had pulled my gear out before realizing the diode was different.

I will update Wednesday when the other diodes get here.

Just got off the phone with the parts house, they couldn't find the part numbers on the original D950B schottky diode - lt3134 sb2100.
And the data sheets for the 3A 100v SB3100 Diodes were all the thicker wire leads?

So I found a SB2100E 2A 100v that matches a lot closer to the size specs of what I currently have to replace. I was so concerned with getting the right amperage and voltage the actual size I thought would all be the same.

Nope, the new Zener is perfect though it tests .678 on the meter set to diode test. And so are the IC chips. Remember anyone who needs one message me.

So for anyone else out there ordering a D950B for this board check the specs, you may have to get a SB2100 too.

I just now read this, I have already ordered the new part/s(I always order two just in case). I ordered two SB2100E-G's 2A 100v.

So should I use this and try to cancel the order tomorrow or wait until Wednesday for the new part to arrive?

EDIT: I just called to try and cancell the order but they said it shipped 3 minutes ealrier so they are unable to cancel the order. It's just one of those days.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    DSP-167DP LOW VCC at IC901
    by TJM2005
    Hello,
I am trying to repair a power supply for a Vizio M492i-B2.
    Before I started:
    Fusible Resistor R915 was open.
    ZD909 was shorted.
    D950B was shorted.

I have replaced the above parts along with a new IC901 / LD7913J
    I now have:
    165V on the main cap
    IC901 Drain pins: 165V
    IC901 VCC: 1.1V
    IC901 COMP: 1.1V
    IC901 BNO: 0.3V

I pulled the Q800 Mosfet and it checked good.
I also tested the two smaller caps C907 and C904B, they both tested close to the rated value.

    Does anyone know of anything...

    Epson EB-U42 projector / Caps with 0.7 ohms ?!
    by narf
    hi all,

first of all: i'm a (motivated) newbie, so please forgive me any stupid question i may or may not ask

i'm currently repairing a projector: Epson EB-U42 that doesn't start (no lights, nothing).

    what i've found so far:
    - the PSU does its job and supplies 12V to the mainboard via the connector.
    - shortly thereafter, there is a mosfet (TS420-600B) where i can test 12V on the one side (in the data sheet this side is called Anode), Gate 0V, Kathode shorted to ground
    - not far away, there's the first cap with a resistance of 0.7 ohms....
