Yes it is too thick to fit through the stand off holes.

The diode should be ok, install the sb3100 diode without the standoffs in the D950A position and leave the D950b standoffs in the board. Just install the sb3100 with the same amount of clearence above the board. Just use enough solder to hold it in placeLast edited by R_J; 01-06-2020, 06:32 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
It's okay that it's physically larger. You would expect that, since it can handle more current. Is the problem the leads of the SB3100 are too thick and will not fit through the holes of the board?Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
The parts are ordered and will be here Jan 6th & 7th. I will post an update when they are here and start work on it. I did have to source the IC chip from ebay and I bought 5 of them so if anyone reading this ends up needing one just message me.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
4.7v 1W Zener will be fine.Any chance of getting it from Digikey or another place. I'm not a big fan of ebay. By chance does anyone have another part # for LD7913JGM6?
Also there are some variations of the diodes I really don't understand, like SB2100 vs SB3100, SR3100, SB3H100 E3 for that 3A 100V SCHOTTKY DIODE?
And I don't know the wattage of the zener diode, I know it's 4.7v and I believe it is made by Vishay?
What is the P/N printed on the D950B?
"Also there are some variations of the diodes I really don't understand, like SB2100 vs SB3100, SR3100, SB3H100 E3 for that 3A 100V SCHOTTKY DIODE?"
Easy enough just look up spec sheets: Examples
SB2100:100V 2A

SB3100: 100V 3A

So D950b is shorted also. You can get most parts from Digikey, but for the ic you might need to get it from eeeebay/ChinaLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
After post #5 I wasn't going to but since I am in the middle of all my gear, any tips on desoldering that type of riser style mount?
Edit: It was not easy but I was able to free the leg of the diode on the riser.
D950B = .000

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
That would be correct, 4.7Ω in parallel with 3.9Ω would be 2.13ΩLeave a comment:

How about the report in your post #1?
"D950b read 00.5 Ohms & .000".
Did you lift one leg and re-test it?Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
Recheck R907A, R907B since ZD909 is no longer connected in parallel with the resistors any more, just to be sure.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
The number is likely NZ4V7D you can use a 1N4732A (4.7v 1watt) Just order a few in case there are other problems. hopefully this is all that is bad.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
Both the diode and the chip are off the board now. The diode has"4V7D NZ" written on it, I am not certain about the D.
Are there any other components I should test before I order those parts?Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
So ZD909 checked shorted out of circuit, It does'nt matter which leg you lift, It was nessesary because the two low ohm resistors are in parallel with it. It looks like the number is 4V7 that would be a 4.7 volt zener diode. Yes you can remove the icLast edited by R_J; 12-31-2019, 07:59 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio E480i-B2 Won't Turn On DPS-167DP IC901
Ok great, now I feel confident I can source another board if I need to. So I will desolder the zenar diode at ZD909 and test it:I checked shopjimmy here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-e480...-version-1.htm
ZD909 = .000
I hope it didn't matter which leg I pulled up?
Also will it hurt/affect other tests if I go ahead and remove the chip at IC901?Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by TJM2005Hello,
I am trying to repair a power supply for a Vizio M492i-B2.
Before I started:
Fusible Resistor R915 was open.
ZD909 was shorted.
D950B was shorted.
I have replaced the above parts along with a new IC901 / LD7913J
I now have:
165V on the main cap
IC901 Drain pins: 165V
IC901 VCC: 1.1V
IC901 COMP: 1.1V
IC901 BNO: 0.3V
I pulled the Q800 Mosfet and it checked good.
I also tested the two smaller caps C907 and C904B, they both tested close to the rated value.
Does anyone know of anything... -

by narfhi all,
first of all: i'm a (motivated) newbie, so please forgive me any stupid question i may or may not ask
i'm currently repairing a projector: Epson EB-U42 that doesn't start (no lights, nothing).
what i've found so far:
- the PSU does its job and supplies 12V to the mainboard via the connector.
- shortly thereafter, there is a mosfet (TS420-600B) where i can test 12V on the one side (in the data sheet this side is called Anode), Gate 0V, Kathode shorted to ground
- not far away, there's the first cap with a resistance of 0.7 ohms.... -

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.
Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but... - Loading...
