JVC LT-40C750 Backlight goes off after 5 or 10 minutes

I have a nice JVC LT-40C750 smart TV with an annoying fault.
The TV works great for anything between 5 to 30 minutes then the backlights will suddenly go off. Sound still works and you can see image with a flashlight.
When it happens, you can switch to standby then back on again and it works great again for another while.

Power board is a 17IPS71 and main board is 17MB95M.
Heating or freezing the board doesn't have any effect, same with tapping the boards and wiggling the backlight connector.

There's 3 wires go to the backlights. When working there is 68v between black wire and chassis, 5v on brown and 7.8v on red. When the backlights go off I have 0v on black, 2v on brown and 2v on red.

Can anyone offer any guidance? I'll add pics of the boards shortly.

    Many thanks.

Try turning down backlights level to as low as possible to see if the backlights will stay on longer, you may have bad LED's problem.
Please also show pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the baords.

    Vestel 17IPS71 schematic.

Thanks Budm, it was on medium backlight, now on low and we're 22 minutes in and so far so good.
Curious as to how I'd identify which particular LED was the culprit though? I have one of these cheap chinese backlight testers but I don't think it would be much help in this situation, unless I hooked it up for 20 minutes or so?
      Thanks again

The tester only puts out about 30mA instead fo about 200 ~300mA, so tester may show fine but when the LEDS are driven hard then they fail if they are bad.

So I might be better buying 1 complete strip, and fitting it in each position in turn until the fault no longer happens? I'll have a look around on ebay to see what's available, thank you for your help.
(now over 30 mins and still on)

Quick update on this, I ordered a LED strip, as well as used power supply from ebay (as it was dirt cheap).
Still waiting on the LED strip arriving but the power supply came this morning. Fitted it around 2 hours ago and turned the backlights to maximum. So far it's been on for 2 hours with no problems. It never usually lasted anymore than 30 minutes (with backlights on medium) before so HOPEFULLY that's the problem cured. Will keep it on for the next 24 hours with max backlights and see w2hat happens.
            Finger's crossed!

Hi, did this permanently fix the problem?

No, I had to fit a full new backlight set in the end.

                  Hi,

I have a 17IPS71 PSU which only blinks the backlight when TV is turned on. The TV is powering up and working, but the backlight not.
My question is only for a tip, what seems to be bad? The LED driver IC, the FET, or the strips? I think it should not flash the backlight if the IC or Q17 may be bad, and i don't measure these faulty too.

Flash of backlights, backlights turning off or no backlights, the backlight are the main suspect. https://techhometravel.com/lg-ln-ser...ed-backlights/

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                      by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

                      by Comp_Pro
                      Hello all,

Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.

                      Tests performed:

There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
                      Fuse F8400 ok
                      Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
                      I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure...

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                      by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                      Anyone...

                      Hi,
I have this rled 6090 led tv which has this backlight issue, When I change it to energy saving mode and tv works fine , All the other mods has this issue. I have entered the service menu by pressing input + 2580 and reduced the backlight to 50% . But as soon as I exit from that service menu it goes back to higher levels. (Since there is no options to save it) . There is a small ic near led drive section a dual opamp , as358m . Is it serves as a controller for backlight? How do I reduce the backlight level using an increased current sense resistance or something like that? The psb is...

                      Hi,

I having some trouble fixing a PSU fault on a TV. Basically the backlight would come on for 10 seconds or so and then shut off and I saw the voltage drop. On further inspection I found 2 burnt out led's on one of the 2 strips and replaced. The same fault still existed but I couldn't measure anything obviously wrong. Each string was roughly 35v and two in series was 70v tested fine with the LED tester. I went to replace the MP3394s but the board popped so I bought another board off Ebay as close as I could find. This time the tv powered up fine but still no backlight at all this...
