That looks like solarization issue, it can be due to bad GAMMA Voltages, or mismatch between the panel and the main board (corrupted setting in the service menu). First thing I would try is to reseating all the cables, check all boards mounting screws, verify the LCD panel model number matched the setting in the service menu, check GAMMA Voltages.

Voltages from psu seem fine reading of the legend
12 volts coming of both fuses on the tcon board
Any ideas why if you bring up the menu it's fine no solarization but the background is green and images

No black in the menu ? It looks like it's just black turning to green.

Perhaps two image processors looking at the heatsink ? one does the 4k stuff the other OSD ? Or the menu isn't exactly the shade as the boys hair.

I have a Dell QHD monitor here with a similar issue. One of the signals is missing so I get green pixels replacing a certain shade of blue or black.
I suspect mine to be a BGA issue.

On the close-up image of the TCONN board photo (installed in TV), there appears to be a wire fragment on the board above resistor RI11 (left of fuse F1, and below the right ribbon cable).

Is this a wire? and is it shorting anything out? Maybe it is not supposed to be there?

Thanks I noticed that when I looked at the tcon board once removed the TV is still the same
Maybe its shorted the tcon ?

                                  Re: Samsung ue55hu8500t green colours

:-( but what was that "debris"? Next, depending on what was impacted, anything is possible. You might trace back the tracks involved to see where they are leading to in terms of components. From looking at the pictures you provided, it could be a problem for either the main board or tcon as the "fake jumper" (if it was a wire), is basically jumping 12v volts to a thing called HTPDN (???)... not sure what that is. But if the driving circuit isn't expecting to see a voltage come at it, then it could be in trouble or the circuit that it is driving (on the tcon board) is not expecting a "DC clamping voltage" of the type, then that circuit could be in trouble.

A quick look seems to indicate that htpdn -> hot plug detection. This is used for determining whether there is cable connected or not so that the "end units" (in this case, possibly a video ic in the main communicating with one in the tcon) are connected before they start communicating.... my limited experience guess. Not sure what the DC value (vcc?) of the signal would be but 12v seems somewhat high and could cause the subtending chips a problem "absorbing" this level. It could explain why the tv worked for a while then died. Having said that, it could be a "red herring" as perhaps the "jumper" was a "design mod".

I found the piece of wire once I removed the tcon cover but cant for the life of me where it came from I'm in a bit of a loss what's causing the fault I might try a replacement tcon though

                                      Re: Samsung ue55hu8500t green colours

IF the VCC is something like 3.5v and depending on how well the VCC voltage is "held" by the circuits, it might not be a problem but if some "clamping" was not very good and the VCC "drifted" up towards a higher voltage, that could impact a lot of components.... but just speculation.

Just looking back at the thread. You didn't really answer the question about what the panel setting was in the service menu (the picture that you posted doesn't show it).
The "failure" that you highlighted is somewhat strange but possible as you indicated that there is only one tcon... but perhaps the system has a "subdivision" of components (ie. physical versus "virtual")... possibly? If so, then maybe that failure is legit... and further, if so, maybe since the "false jumper" was found on / near the lvds cables between the main and tcon, that it did impact things there... maybe. A service manual would be nice ... :-)
