LG 65UH5500 Momentary Flash Of BackLights (Occasionally)

Had the issue where the screen flashes for a second when plugged in, but turns off instantly. It won't do it again until the power is dispersed from the boards (unplugging and holding power button down). Figured it was likely just a bad LED somewhere based on the symptoms and other threads I found here. When watching it flash, it was clear there were a couple strips not coming on at all.

I cracked it open to check the LEDs and every one of them turned on with the tester (which was pretty annoying to be honest). I plugged the set in with the dispersion panels off to see exactly which LED strips were not turning on (pic attached). I took the picture, unplugged the TV, pressed power button, plugged TV back in, and everything turned on normal. Figured maybe it was a loose connection that got secured. Let it run for about 30 minutes and all worked great. I started to put it back together, testing it every step so I wouldn't get too far and realize it was still messed up. Eventually, it began the same symptoms.

The 4 strips that don't turn on are all tied to the LED 1 lead. When plugged in, voltage jumps to 80V, panel flashes, and it settles back down to around 60V.

I know that the LED tester doesn't put out the same load as the power board so sometimes it can be misleading. Would it just make sense to go ahead and replace the 4 LED strips or is there another way to test their 'health'?

There is probably an intermittent LED in those strips. I would just replace them. I have seen LEDs that have a delayed turn on with a tester which I typically will replace as well.

You have six set of LED strings, LED 1 ~ 6.
The six LED + 1 ~ 6, each is the Anode pin of each LED string and they are all tied together and fed by the 80V power supply, the six LED - 1 ~ 6, each one the Cathode return for each LED string.
What you can do is to swap the strips with the working strips to see if the problem will follow or not.
You also have surface mounted connectors on the LED strips which are known for bad solder joints so you may want to inspect that.
The LED tester may give a clue about the bad LED, you have to look at the Voltage reading on the tester and see if any one of the six LED string is unstable not and if the Voltage is much different than the other string, it is not 100% but it may give enough clue.
It is big panel so you should replace all the strips at the same time, try swapping them first.

Brilliant suggestion swapping the strips, feel like an idiot for not thinking of that. Was able to track down the specific strip causing the problems.

Thanks so much for the quick help

What does the LED tester show when test that bad strip?

Another common problem is intermittent arcing of the rather crappy plug jumper that connects one strip to the adjacent strip...have a close study there, that is most likely problem. Seen this lots of times. Simply jumper over the top of each one.

LED problem on samsung UE55F6475, 2 strips work. The rest is flashing every second.
                by Kingfreddie
                Ok.. this is the story:
Have an old Samsung LED 3D TV (UE55F6475). First it started to lose light on the lower 40% of the screen now and then. Like for 10-60 mins and then it would work again. Then a bit later it just got stuck in that position. The lower 40% of the screen is dark, and it gets progressively darker the lower u go so it's obviously that LED strips where not working. I also looked for similar errors online and saw an exact copy and on that one it was faulty LED strips.

This is kinda how it looked, just that mine were at the bottom of the screen:

LG 50Lf6090 only backlights after replacing LED strips
                by IT&TVHobbies
I have an LG 50LF6090-UB that had a picture but started flashing on and off. Tested the LED strips and it had several bad LED's. Replaced the LED strips and turned the TV on and it only had the backlights on. Researched the issue and purchased a TCON board online. This did not fix the issue. Researched again and purchased a Main board on line. This didn't fix the issue either. The only thing now is that the backlights turn on as soon as I plug in the tv without touching the power button. Any help to identify the problem would be appreciated.
                Thank you

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?
                by DXseekerMO
                Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
                by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

                I made the following tests:
                1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
                2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

                by edugimeno
                Hi There!
I bought a broken 32" TV today. It has sound but no image. I checked with a flashlight and it was missing backlight
Disassembled down to the led strips and found this TV has been serviced before. Not sure if it was fixed, worked again for some time, and broke again, or maybe last repair wasn't successful

Looks like on previous repair, the center LED strip was replaced with a different model, 7 leds in it instead of 8, but when checking LEDS one by one, leds on the center strip were brighter with same test voltage (multimeter in DIODE mode) so maybe the...
