Re: Visio E5501-B2 no picture or sound
This was GREAT advice from capwizard and others. These are probably cycling out of the inventory since they're getting older but I picked up one the other day. Even had an extra set of boards. Neither set worked. Checked cn202 and sure enough, the solder joints had failed on both power boards. Cleaned up the old solder and resoldered with 60/40. Now I have two good power boards and the set plays like new. What a simple fix. Thanks to all who helped.

And access to the boards is quick and easy. This last one was tossed by my neighbor but someone had broken the corner at the IR board, which I had to replace. I resoldered the connections (thanks again to the board members who made this so simple) and the set went to a good friend. He's my handyman and household fixer who has saved me big money over the years.Last edited by capwizard; 01-13-2019, 06:21 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Visio E5501-B2 no picture or sound
I've been offered a couple of these for free in the past, both picture and no sound. If someone offers me a free TV I try to tell them if I think its an easy fix. When I tell them I can generally fix one of these in 30min for $35 they just about soil their britches.
I just sold one of these last weekend for $250.00 and three others for the same amount last year.

Its the connection between the power board and the led driver board. You can wiggle it and see it move.Leave a comment:

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... - Loading...
