Re: Samsung UN60FH6200F TV - No backlight - Please help

Good news - I figured it out! There were three resistors blown on the back side of the board, near where the LEDs plug in. They were, from the shopjimmy picture, supposed to be 3R00 resistors, in parallel, and I'm guessing they were just acting as a fuse. I measured one at 16Mohm after desoldering it, and guessing that that was the problem, shoved a beefy 1.5ohm resistor in their place. Worked like a charm.

(Note that I will not mention the brief moment there was a 47 ohm resistor there to see if it worked... and the blue smoke it released).

      @budm, I was getting ~400v IIRC.

Those are current sense resistors if I'm not mistaken, by your description. They're paralleled to drop the resistance quite low so they don't have too much voltage drop across them. I've never seen a TV where those resistors were faulty, but I guess there's a first time for everything...

Since the current sensing resistors went open circuit, that is why you are getting 400V.

All 3 are marked as 3R00 which are 3Ω each

I know this is SUPER old, but can you tell me what power rating the 1.5ohm resistor you used had on it? My power board has the same exact issue. Thanks!

Power can be determined by their size, though it never hurts to go bigger if unsure.

                    Samsung QE82Q70RAT no backlight
                    by sansanpartida
                    Hi everyone!

Hope you're all having a great day, and thank you very much for stopping by and taking the time to read this post to help me with my parents' Samsung TV.

                    My issue: No backlight.

                    Model: QE82Q70RAT
                    Type No: QE82Q70RAT

The TV was already serviced by Samsung once under warranty for the exact same issue, but six months after the fix, the backlight went out again. Now, Samsung is asking for nearly the same price as a brand new TV to fix this with the same 6-month guarantee.

So hopefully, I can fix this cheaper.

Samsung UN55NU7300F Curved TV. Half side backlight out. Fixed by just removing the rear snap cover
                    by howardc64
TV was fixed just after removing Samsung's rear snap cover.

This curved TV's construction is rather interesting. When the snapped on back is removed, rest of the TV will relax the curvature. Top of LCD panel is loose as it wants to straighten out against the slightly curved bezel. Snapped back provide most of the curvature shape. So just simple disassembly of rear cover will allow the rest of the TV frame to relax its curvature. Thats probably what fixed it but no idea which connection. 4x LEDs are edge lit.

Maybe PSU->backlight connector didn't have a good contact?...

Samsung QN75Q6FNA backlight no display, red LED blink 2x, fault in panel
                    by howardc64
                    • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
                    • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
                    • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
                    • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.
                    • Tape masking eventually isolated to CN1300 pin 15 (CKV4_GOA) Display

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                    by Ierwin
                    Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...
