    Sony KDL-46v5100 TCON Failure?

So I did some research and _thought_ my T-con board on my Sony KDL-46v5100 was bad. I bought a replacement on eBay and it's a similar, but slightly different failure. Possibility that both of the boards I have are bad? Something else? If I unplug the LVDS cable & plug it back in, the screen behaves briefly, but the longer the LVDS cable is plugged in or the TV is just left on, the more weirdness occurs.

    Thank you!

I am starting to think this is likely tab bond failure.. time to take the bezel off.

where is the edge boards located on this set... top or bottom?
what's the history of the set and problem?

Unfortunately no history, picked it up on CL for cheap enough that I figured it was worth a shot. I believe the edge boards are on the bottom

if they are on the bottom, then "window washing" has great potential for contaminating the panel to edge board connections along with causing issues to the edge boards themselves.

On the top, some sony's have issues whereby the connector of the panel / connections have problems. Does "lightly" flexing the corners / sides of the panel / bezel cause any changes?

Hi, i had a Samsung 40 inches lcd that was behaving the same way, unfortunately my attempts to repair it have damaged it worse and i trashed it, i suggest you not to dismount any further, this is a typical issue and especially from Samsung screens (check your brand), and it's not related to tab bonds... In the months that are passed since my unsuccess, i have build the hypothesis that the main tcon CHIP ("CPU") suffers from soldering problems, if you are familiar with REFLOWING technique i suggest you and i would like if you:
1st, connect back the original TCON and show us its defect..
2nd, you try a reflow of the main chip, it is possible that there are more than 1 big chips, i can try to suggest you wich, but usually its one with heatsink, before warming it, apply a dry spray contact electronic cleaner under the BGA chip keeping the board at 45 degrees and waiting for the dirt to flood down, let it evaporate well, then apply flux , if in paste let it warm a bit to let it pass under it, around the balls, then warm it, the chip at a certain point must move! If it doesn't move increase temperature..

Wonder if maybe someone previously put in or you got the wrong tcon, looks like theres 4 different ones, look closely at the notes in the link, check numbers on tcon white barcode sticker, moreover if someone possibly put wrong one in, go by serial number of tv and panel number. https://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsea...?q=KDL-46v5100

Obviously when you warm it, you have to touch it very slightly at the corner with a slim tiny tip flat screwdriver to see it move, when you release pressure the chip restore itself in original position..

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
                  by Daren87
                  Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
                  by iglitare
                  Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                  by kca
                  Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

                  Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
                  by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

                  Sony KD-55AG9 TCON?
                  by bbrain
                  Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                  It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                  Thanks in advance!...
