    sony xbr65x850C - pure evil

fighting a sony xbr65x850C since the beginning of november.

    Original issue - no power
    replaced power supply
    power but scrambled looking HDMI
    replaced main board
mainboard was actully for the 55" version (identical) and powered on to blinking yellow and green ( i think)
took EMMC from old main board, read on EMMC reader, made backup of both new and old EMMC (so we know for sure they are both readable)
reballed and transferred to new main board. Quite certain no issue in the physical swap, but who knows.
    back to no power.

Standby is there, power VCC and VVCq to EMMC is there. No shorts on EMMC as far as i can tell from the external components. (CMD CLK DAT0)

Was about to start soldering wires for ISP to make sure my EMMC swap went well, and decided to test the power supply.

    External 3.3 supply connected to power_on BL_on tcon_on
    tcon voltage 12V
BL voltage 93V on out- 222V on out+ with ground plane ground reference.
    Backlight does not light up
dc dimmer to 3.3v or ground changes nothing. Same for PWM dimmer.

All voltages as the connector seem to check out

I am fully willing to accept the main issue lies in the EMMC swap and the contents there of, and i should be able to work through it, but this backlight issue makes zero sense to me. Could a crappy backlight have been my "power" issue all along? Any way to bypass protection if there is any?

No light on the optical audio, and no 5 volts on USB, but main IC heatsinks are getting warm. So somthing is happening. A debug UART would be excellent, but i don't see anything obvious.

any ideas or where to go from here?

"blinking yellow and green ( i think)" Did you try a firmware update/reapply at that point right there?

I did not. It didnt occur to me that it would take 65" firmware via the USB method. It would not be possible at that time to update via the system menu, but i assuming you are alluding to an alternate method.

I suppose i can flash the 55" backup image i made to the installed EMMC if there is any benefit to doing so.

"power but scrambled looking HDMI" So after replacing the power supply board, the TV will come on but with scrambling pictures, so you replace the main board but now you have no power,no backlights, no lights on optical, etc.
So what happen if you put the original main board back in?

Old board has no EMMC currently since i swapped it to the new board. I suppose i can swap the EMMC back over.

Might want to go with the 5.417, the other one didnt show up in the applicable models, no C on the end, dont know if it would matter or not.

Oh God, you made a JAM!
Swapping eMMC it's an incredible waste of time...
You had to swap only eeproms, and if are sop8 you can also do in 5mins. with clip...

Warning! This beast of tv can have a very tricky situation about the screen, i remember a thread of Freakaftr8 with same set, check it, that "blinking yellow and green" remeber me its thread, possible screen damage (?)..

Does anyone know where one would get these dumps for EMMC? I have two 55/65 A1E sony OLEDs that likely need new EMMC chips but I do not have the file.

Is there a database or website you use to find these?

lotas anything in the Russian space websites you know of also?

                          by saghi88
                          Hello everyone,

The TV won't turn on (no power, no LED,). All voltages are present on the motherboard. The CPU is working and is getting warm.

This is a common issue with this model. If the eMMC is faulty, the TV will either go into a reboot loop or not turn on at all.

does anyone have the EMMC dump file?

Sony KDL 55W-955B Sony EMMC dump search :)
                          by Morosan Dimitrie
Hello guys, can someone help me with an eMMC dump for a Sony KDL55W-955B TV, I tried to read the original memory with the RT809H but it shows me that it only has 1888MB even though it should have around 3.8GB. On a new memory it shows me 3776MB. From what I found on the Sony page, the following models could also be compatible:

                          KDL-65W955B, KDL-55W955B, KDL-60W855B, KDL-50W805B, KDL-42W705B, KDL-32W705B, KDL-48W605B, KDL-40W605B, KDL-60W605B, KDL-55W805B, KDL-42W805B, KDL-48W585B, KDL-32W706B, KDL-42W706B, KDL-42W815B, KDL-42W817B, KDL-50W815B, KDL-55W815B, KDL-42W828B, KDL-42W829B,...
